Faith nodded.“What about the men I incapacitate?”
“What about them?”Bane stared at her.
“Should we leave them there unconscious or tied up just so they helplessly drown when the ship is sunk?”
The interior of the plane got quiet.
Bane leaned forward in his seat to look her in the eyes.“These men will try their best to kill you Faith, to kill us all. They would also be there for this apocalypse part too, you know?Watching from the safety of their ill gotten positions of power as all the innocents suffer.”
“I just hate killing unnecessarily is all.”Faith shrugged.
“With great power comes great responsibility,” Bastian stated.
“Exactly!”Faith exclaimed.“Just because Icankill doesn’t mean I should.”
Bane scoffed.“If it is to kill or be killed, the solution is obvious.”
Turning to look at him, she retorted, “That is just it.They cannot actually kill me, Bane.”
He shook his head.“So what do you want to do?Take the time to plant them all on the shore and then what?”
“I don’t know.”She sighed.“I just don’t like racking up the body count unless I have to.”
“Well, find Mr.Red ASAP, then,” Bastian suggested.“Then get off the boat damn quick. The men left alive can jump ship when it sinks.”
“I agree,” Cassian finally spoke up.“But don’t feel so sympathetic that you forget that these men can kill the rest of your team, babe.”He reached over to squeeze her hand.
Faith stared at him then gave him a nod.
Later that evening...
Lights reflected from the water as the sun had gone down almost an hour ago.During the day, boats and barges hustled and bustled on the wide river, up and down the thoroughfare at a constant clip.
Night had fallen now, like any other along the Mississippi.Peaceful and calming.Except for a rather loud hum from a rather large but familiar ship along this waterway. The water rippled to the shore as the Vermiculus moved along the river.
In the darkness, a small watercraft eased up alongside the large ship.Sling ladders were silently shot up to the rim of the boat, via hydraulic crossbows.
Dark figures scaled the sling ladders without notice under the black sky of night. They were now on deck as they spread out a bit but stayed together as a group.
The search was now on for the nefarious Mr.Red.
With Faith in the lead, they moved down the main corridor of the ship. All of them were armed.Bane and Cane held their double pistols.Cassain held a Katana sword and had a machine gun strapped over his shoulder.Faith also held a sword.
Having studied the ship’s specifications, they already knew the layout. They were heading to the Captain's quarters. So far, they had seen no one, not a deckhand or a guard.
Bane tapped his comm and spoke to Bastian, “This is odd, Bastain we haven’t seen a soul since we boarded.”
“No one active on the deck either,” Bastian replied.
“The metal of the ship is making it difficult to find even your heat signatures aboard.I can see you as wisps though,” James told them all by comm.
“Ok, checking Captain’s quarters,” Bane stated as he reached for the door.He found that it was locked.
Faith stepped in front of him then simply reached out and tore the heavy metal door off its hinges and neatly set it to the side to lean up against the wall.
“Locks just don’t matter to you, babe,” Cassian joked.
They all stepped in carefully.Looking around, they found no one.
