“You know that by heart?”Orrin exclaimed.
Conrad nodded.“I’ve got one of those minds that never forgets. But to help narrow it down for ya, Mr.Red is peculiar to say the least, he travels it from start to finish every year, even runs his entire business from that damn ship of his.Well, he stays out of the Rockies of course, but with each month, he makes sure he is a certain distance. So that he reaches the end of the river at the end of the year.So it is slow going mind you but that is on purpose. You can track him that way.He will be at the Saint Louis juncture to the Mississippi in a few days.”
“We need to take him out first,” Bane growled.
“Don’t we have three of these psycho’s to take out?”Orrin asked.“Why him first?”
“Well, for one, I owe that fucker a broken face.”Bane growled.“For two, the way they have devised this plan, they would need the army in place before they start the actual apocalypse wouldn’t they?”
“Yes, that was the plan,” Conrad agreed.“The Soldier of Fortune army assimilated and in place first, so they have control of everything before the shit hits that proverbial fan. Then the poisons come after that.”
“I intend for us to destroy the ship he owns, so that no weapons get to his army. And no army gets to our shores,” Bane stated.“Sink that fucker with Mr.Red on board.”
Conrad blinked his stunned eyes at him.“You want to sink it?”
Bane did not blink as he gave him a firm nod.
Conrad looked over at Bastian.
He nodded at him as well.
Cane came over and dropped a file onto the table where the men sat.“Freshly printed for your enjoyment.”
Conrad glanced up at him then back down. With a gasp, he snapped his head up to look at Cane again.Looking over at Bane, he slowly shook his head.
“I also have a twin,” Bane explained.
“Only I never wanted his life,” Cane added.“I like my own too much.”He turned and went back over to the big table.
“Fascinating,” Conrad commented as he watched Cane and asked, “So he doesn’t want to kill you or anything?”
Bane actually laughed a little at this question.“Maybe, but if so, he has never tried.”
“Me, on the other hand,” Orrin spoke up again as he rolled his eyes.
“Yes, Orrin here may havewantedto kill me a time or two,” Bane admitted.“But he also never acted on it.”
Frank came over now and smiled at Conrad.“They are all my sons.I am damned proud of all three of them.I wish I’d known you were in such trouble, Conrad.I could have gotten you free.”
Conrad stared at him.“The last I remember hearing was you being in a wheelchair after some horrible accident.I remember thinking how lucky you were to have that beautiful wife to take care of you.”
The room went silent.
Orrin snorted.
Conrad looked from him back up to Frank.
“Dear friend,” Frank said.“It was my wife that put me in that chair.”
Conrad looked shocked.“Ohhh.Gee, Frank.I am sorry to hear that.”
“It’s all done now, thank heaven.”Frank gave him a nod.“It took years to finally...end her reign of terror.”
Ari and Sheba came in just then.
Conrad stared at them.“Well, what or who do we have here?”
Frank smiled.“Sheba is my daughter and Ari is my niece,” he introduced them.
