“We did it,” she says softly, her voice barely above a whisper, but full of everything we’ve both been holding inside.

“We sure did,” I say, my lips brushing against her forehead. “We’re married.”

Her eyes sparkle with happiness. “I’m yours.”

“I’m yours too,” I reply, my voice full of emotion.

The night unfolds with laughter, dancing, and stories shared under the stars. The quiet moments are just as special as the loud ones. It’s simple. It’s perfect.

At one point, we steal away to the edge of the beach, just the two of us. The waves crash softly, and the moonlight illuminatesher face as she looks at me, her eyes full of the love I’ve waited for my whole life.

“I never thought I’d get here,” she says softly, her voice filled with wonder. “I never thought I’d have this. And you.”

“You have everything now,” I say, my hand gently cupping her cheek. “Yes, you have me.”

She leans into my touch, her heart beating in perfect rhythm with mine. “And I’ll never leave you,” she whispers.

The night stretches on, but in that moment, I know we’ve created something more than just a wedding. We’ve built a life, together. A life that’s full of love, laughter, and the kind of happiness that doesn’t come from money or status — but from the simple, powerful connection between two people who are meant to be.

I kiss her again, and the world feels complete.

This is it. This is our forever.

And I can’t wait to live it with her.

Epilogue

Lucy

Weeks after our wedding it feels like the world has shifted. It’s quiet. Peaceful. The kind of morning I used to long for — one where I could wake up without the weight of the past bearing down on me.

I roll over and glance at Liam, still asleep beside me. His features are relaxed, calm, the way they always are when he’s at ease. I’ve never seen him look so... content. It’s a look that fills me with a kind of warmth I can’t quite explain.

I reach over and brush a lock of hair from his face, and he stirs slightly, his eyes flickering open. He smiles when he sees me, and for a moment, the world is just the two of us.

"Hey sweetheart," he murmurs, his voice still thick with sleep.

"Hey," I reply, my heart swelling at the sight of him.

We lie there for a moment, the silence between us comfortable and easy. I’ve never felt more at peace than I do now. The kind of peace I’ve always wanted but never knew how to find. And now, with him by my side, I have it.

“You’re mine,” he says softly, almost as if he’s still trying to convince himself that this is real.

“And you’re mine,” I whisper back, my voice filled with a certainty that has grown with every passing day.

He reaches out, taking my hand, and we lay there for a while, just holding each other. No rush. No expectations. Just the two of us, letting the world outside carry on without us for a little longer.

After some time, we decide to take a walk. The sun is shining, the air crisp and fresh. We head out to the beach, making our way toward the lighthouse. It’s a short walk from our place, but the view is always breathtaking.

The lighthouse stands tall, an unmovable symbol of hope and guidance. I never thought I would find my own kind of stability — the kind of love that anchors you when everything else is uncertain. But here I am, standing beside Liam, my hand in his, knowing that this is exactly where I’m supposed to be.

I smile at him, my heart fluttering. “I never thought I’d have this kind of life. I always thought... I always thought I was meant for something else. Something more complicated. But with you, everything feels simple. It feels right.”

“It’s the same for me,” he admits, looking down at me with such tenderness. “I used to think I had everything figured out. Business, success, wealth... But none of that matters if I don’t have you.”

I feel a rush of warmth flood through me at his words. I never expected to find someone who made me feel this way. I neverthought I deserved this kind of love. But here I am, with him, and I know this is the beginning of something incredible.

After we return home, we spend the rest of the day on the beach behind the house, swimming, sunning and reading. I love these days when Liam and I are both home, without the need to hurry to get to work. I love that I still have a place at the clinic where I can get all the animal-love I can handle. And I want to be sure that I never take this for granted.
