“Yeah,” Elisa replied, pressing her face against Myra’s neck. “You?”

“Very,” Myra shared and rubbed Elisa’s back over her sweater.

“But I’d still like us to…” Elisa faded out as she kissed Myra’s neck. “You’ve been far away all night, and I missed you.”

“I missed you, too,” Myra said and kissed her temple. “Come on. Let’s say goodnight and go home.”

Asher and Linden were still sitting at the table with Melinda and Kyle, but Kyle was on the phone, and Melinda was looking down at her own. Asher and Linden appeared to be taking advantage of the moment and were exchanging little kisses between smiles at one another. Normally, Elisa would have been jealous of that because she never thought she’d have that with anyone, but she wasn’t now because Myra was holding her hand, and they were going home to make love.

CHAPTER 29

“Ihad fun tonight,” Elisa said. “Your friends are great. There are a lot of them, but they’re all nice.”

“Like I said, they’re not all my friends; more friends of friends, really.”

“They all seemed interested in getting to know me and didn’t seem like friends of friends to me,” Elisa replied, taking Myra’s hand as they walked toward Elisa’s house.

“They’re nice.”

“You have a problem realizing that people actually like hanging out with you, don’t you?” Elisa asked.

“What? No.”

“Babe, you’ve told me at least five times justtonightthat they’re friends of friends or friends with Mel, really, and you just happen to be friends with her, too.” Elisa pulled out her keys. “They’re your friends, and they might just become my friends at some point.”

“Oh, yeah?” Myra teased.

“Yes. Linden and Asher asked us to double-date with them soon, and Bridgette and Monica wanted to grab lunch or something. I may have accepted on our behalf.”

“You did, huh?”

Elisa unlocked the door and pushed it open. Buster immediately jumped up in excitement, his tail wagging wildly behind him.

“Hi, buddy,” Elisa said as she let Myra walk in behind her. “I know. I know.” She knelt down and rubbed his ears. “I’m home. We can go outside now.”

“Want me to take him?”

“No, I’ve got him. You can go home and get something, if you want.”

“Pack a bag for tonight?” she asked.

“Yes, but that’s not what I meant,” Elisa said, looking up at Myra while she continued to give Buster attention.

“Oh,” Myra said when she realized what Elisa meant. “Tonight?”

“You wanted to.”

“Yeah, but we don’t have to do anything that you don’t want to do.”

“Who said I didn’t want to do it? I told you earlier that I did.”

“I was inside you then.”

“And your fingers are just so magical, they can convince me to do something I don’t want to do with you?” Elisa teased.

Myra rolled her eyes and asked, “Are you sure?”

“Yes,” Elisa replied as she chuckled. “Go. Get it.”
