Evie couldn’t respond. She was busy circling around Natalya’s clit with such intense focus it drowned out everything else. It was on purpose too. Natalya’s grip on her hair, shooting sparks of ecstasy through her body, would undo her otherwise.
When Natalya started breathing heavily again, Evie stopped circling. Instead, she closed her lips around Natalya’s clit, pushing back the hood and pressing against her with the tip of her tongue.
“Yes.Yes, darling.” Natalya’s voice was heavy. She was panting briskly. Her hold on Evie’s hair was almost painful. “Yes. Keep going like that. Yes.”
She kept repeating the word. First clearly, then as a nigh whisper spoken as part of a sigh or moan. Evie was moaning too, loudly and rhythmically. It matched the feeling of pleasure Natalya shot through her body using her expert fingers. It was like Evie’s body was vibrating, and she lowered her hand between her own legs, moving over her clit.
Both of them moaned. Both of them were shaking with the delight of it all. Every time Evie flicked over her clit, she sucked on Natalya’s.
It created a rhythm. Every time Evie licked over Natalya, it sent a shock of pleasure through her scalp to the rest of her body. Every time Natalya experienced pleasure, Evie did too. It made their moans come in unison. Matching first in rhythm and tempo, then in volume as Evie circled her tongue tighter around Natalya.
Natalya cried out loudly. Evie did the same. Her hand stilled over her clit as the stimulation from that and Natalya’s grip rushed through her, bright and fast. She trembled as she came, moaning against Natalya as she also fell apart.
Echoing pulses of elation strummed through Evie. It was like the nerves in her body could feel nothing other than pleasure. When it waned, she nearly collapsed against Natalya.
Even though she was tired, Evie didn’t pull away. She stayed where she was, licking Natalya clean again. Reveling in the fact that she was allowed to do so. That she could take it. That she was so lucky to have this woman trust her.
After a while, Natalya pulled gently on Evie’s hair, making her withdraw. She looked up at Natalya, finding she had sat up again. Her violet eyes were glowing and so soft. For Evie. They didn’t look at anyone else like that.
“You are so perfect, Evie.” Natalya pulled her close, kissing her and not caring that Evie’s mouth was covered in Natalya’s come and smeared lipstick. Evie didn’t care about that either. She only cared about the feeling of Natalya’s lips against hers. It was the only thing that mattered right then.
Her kiss didn’t generate pleasure now, at least not more than would naturally be produced by someone as wonderful as Natalya. It was calming and kind. It made tears rise in Evie’s eyes.
“I love you. I love you so much.” Evie’s arms went around Natalya, hugging her tightly.
“I know, darling.” She sounded in awe as she said it. “I know you do.”
Natalya stood by her living room window, taking in the view of nighttime Chicago. She’d never really done that before. Her apartment had been nothing more than a place to shower and change clothes. A dead, practical location she visited occasionally and didn’t really care about or linger in.
That was before Evie breathed life into the space. There was a different energy there now. The smell of coffee in the morning and food being cooked. Small signs of domestic life, like a dropped item of clothing or dishes left by the kitchen sink. It felt like a home now. It was a place she wanted to return to.
Soft footsteps sounded behind her, and then arms went around her waist. Strong and freckled.
“I thought you’d fallen asleep,” Natalya said, putting her hand over Evie’s.
“I want to sleep with you. I sleep better that way.”
“And you call me bossy.” Natalya didn’t move from where she was standing. Watching the city sprawl out below, dark and shadowed, made her think of the future. It made her worried.
“You’re tense,” Evie said. “Is something wrong?”
Natalya chuckled. Evie noticed seemingly everything. Or maybe Natalya just forgot to hide around her.
“Nothing new. Just the usual.” Natalya turned to face her. Evie had changed into an old t-shirt and plain underwear. Her hair was damp from showering, and her green eyes were concerned. Concerned for Natalya.
“I’ll join you in a bit.” She gave Evie a soft kiss, letting it last a little longer than necessary. “I just need some time.”
“Can I stay with you?”
Such an innocent question said so sweetly. The position of ruler wasn’t easy to hold. Even if Natalya wasn’t a true Regent, she was treated like one, both by her King and the subjects they led. It was a solitary, heavy responsibility.
Evie couldn’t help with that. She wasn’t expected to and wouldn’t know how. But she helped Natalya. She brought her ease. And she did so without expectation or demand. It made the weight of it lighter.
Natalya pulled her close, leaning against her. Holding her like this, Natalya could almost forget the circumstances that brought Evie to this hidden world they inhabited. Those same circumstances were now causing Natalya to worry. Varro was still a threat. Not just to Evie but to the Court of Chains too. If their play against him went wrong, the consequences could be catastrophic.
She would have to make contingencies. Get Evie a new name and get her far away from Chicago before they moved on theestate. Even if they failed in toppling Varro, she needed to ensure he and Stefano never set their black eyes on Evie ever again.
Evie started trembling in her arms. It was only when Natalya heard her sniffle she realized Evie was crying.
