At first, Gregory hesitated, but it would be good for them to know if they got any visions. “Alaric, the alpha of the Quin pack, is having an event.”
“Pack as in…?”
“Werewolves.”
Minerva’s eyes widened. “Holy shit, for real? Werewolves?”
“Yeah. We have a…I wouldn’t call it an alliance, but Alaric did, so I think he wants something. Either way, we got an invitation which we’ve never gotten before, but since we’re a coven of non-vampires, alliances would be good for us.”
Minerva studied him for a second or two. “Do you trust him?”
“No.” He turned it over in his head. “I believe Alaric is a good guy, but he’s the alpha. He has to do what’s best for the pack, and two vampires and four seers are nothing to a pack of wolves.”
“Is it a pack of five or five hundred?”
Gregory grinned at her. “Five hundred werewolves in one place would cause a lot of fighting. I think there’s about fifty, maybe. Which is a big pack.” He sighed. “We don’t know what he wants or why he’s chosen to invite us for all the members to see instead of asking for a meeting in private.”
Minerva grimaced. “That’s…eh…worrying.”
“I think the event is safe to attend. It’s what comes after that worries me.”
She nodded. “When is it?”
“Saturday.”
“I’ll make a prediction for you on Saturday, as will Prophecy.”
Prophecy started to object, but Minerva smacked him with a spoon on the back of his hand. “He will do it.”
Prophecy sighed loudly. “Fine, I’ll do it.”
“Thank you both.” Gregory got up. It was time to go find Thanatos.
“You didn’t answer.” Rufus looked at him. “Any jobs, and one or two tuxedos?”
“I haven’t booked anything, and two, I’m afraid. I’ll fix the clothes.” A nap, then he and Thanatos could head into town.
* * * *
Thanatos woke to someone touching his shoulder. He screamed and flailed.
“Hey.” Gregory was crouched in front of him. Thanatos glanced up at Zidane, who remained unmoving on the table throughout the whole thing.
Squeezing his eyes shut, he then glanced at Gregory again. “What are you doing here?”
“Looking for you. You shouldn’t sleep in the basement.”
“Why?”
“It’s cold and stone floors are hard.”
Thanatos snorted. “Why were you looking for me?”
“We have a party to attend.” Gregory glanced at Zidane; his profile too perfect to be real apart from a tiny scar by his left eyebrow. Thanatos rubbed his eyes. His too-tired brain was making stupid observations.
“Party?” He struggled to get up from where he was sitting against the wall. He must’ve fallen asleep while telling Zidane about his new breakfast cake. Poor thing must be bored out of his mind by now.
“Yeah, some weird shit is going on.”
