“Open the door.” The demand made Thanatos jump. His hands shook as he reached for the handle.

The door swung open, and Thanatos took a step inside. Gregory followed and closed and locked it behind them. “Do you want all the chains and shit in place?”

He shook his head. He would not lock himself in a room with a vampire. Not more than he already was, at least.

Gregory narrowed his eyes. “Hop into bed.”

“No, I—”

“Sleep. We’re sleeping. I’ll set the alarm for three hours. It’s less than you need, but it’ll have to do.”

Chapter 7

Gregory breathed through the scent of fear and motioned to the bed. “Get in.”

“I can’t—”

“You can and you will.” It annoyed the hell out of him Thanatos believed he’d…do something. They needed to merge their scents before Saturday, and this was as good a way to start as any. Fucking werewolves.

“If you want to change into something more comfy to sleep in, do it now, because we’re getting in that bed, and I’m gonna hold you.”

“What?”

“Scents. They linger longer than people think. Even if you shower, they’ll be able to tell.”

Thanatos stared at him. “What? Who?”

“The werewolves.”

Thanatos gaped. He opened his mouth, and closed it, only to clear his throat. “Werewolves? What do werewolves have to do with anything?”

Gregory grinned. He had his attention now. “I’ll tell you in bed. Are you sleeping in those clothes?”

Kicking off his shoes, Thanatos crawled into bed and balanced on the edge. Gregory would fix it soon. No bed partner of his would balance on the edge of the bed.

He stepped out of his shoes and pushed his jeans down.

“Hey! No undressing.”

Grinning, Gregory stepped out of his jeans and was on the bed faster than any human could’ve made it there. Thanatos sucked in a breath in surprise when Gregory pulled at the cover. He managed to get it over them without having Thanatos fall to the floor.

“Come here.” He held out his arm while he waited.

“No.”

“Yes, come here, let me hold you, and I’ll tell you everything I know about this Alaric business.”

“I don’t want to.” Thanatos was too pale.

“Yeah, I’ve already figured that out, sweetheart, but we’re on a mission, and despite what you might think, I’d never take you against your will.”

A crease formed between Thanatos’ brows. Gregory grabbed him and pulled him close, tired of waiting. He was patient like that.

For a moment, there was some pushing and spluttering, but human strength didn’t stand a chance.

“See, cozy, right?” Gregory hugged Thanatos to his chest, carefully pressing his head against his shoulder. He was stiff as a board, but Gregory gently massaged his neck, trying to coax him into relaxing.

“Okay, so Alaric Quin is the alpha of a werewolf pack. He knows the coven. I wouldn’t say we’ve been friendly, but there hasn’t been any open animosity other than them being fucking dogs and we being awesome, of course.”
