He nods, stating, “Our son has beaten the odds already, cupcake. He’s proven how strong he is, so yes, I think he will now answer my question.”

I smile watery and admit, “I think you need to see about getting a marriage license, Jax.”

He smirks and admits, “Already in the works, Ivy,” and I let out a shocked laugh before he presses his lips down on mine again, electric shocks going right down to my toes and my clit throbs, needing him after so long.

Soon…

“I cannot believe you!” I hear shouted, and Jax and I break apart to see Skylar storming into the hospital with Fury running after her, and I frown.

“What did he do this time?” I ask, and Jax tilts his head, replying, “I’m not sure, but it can’t be as bad as lying about his identity…”

“Precious, will you stop running from me and let me fucking talk!” Fury snaps back, and I wince as Jax mutters, “Uh oh,” knowing he just messed up.

Skylar pauses in her tracks and turns to him with a hard glare that even has me stepping back a little as she snaps, “One, I am not your precious, I haven’t been since I found outyouused me!” Fury winces, “And two, you let that woman near Tate, what more is there to say right now?”

Skylar turns and storms my way, her dress skirt making it difficult for her to make hefty strides, but she does the job, her anger ensuring it doesn’t get in the way. As she nears, she pauses, seeing us, and I raise a brow to ask, ‘Are you okay?’ and she shakes her head, tears filling her eyes, making me step forward with concern.

“What happened?” I ask, and she sniffles.

"Anna called. Tate had an accident and fell off the slide at the club.”

Jax quickly cuts in and says in shock, “Wait, Anna called you?” as Fury stops beside her and demands, “Since when does Anna call you, Sky? Is she causing shit?”

Skylar and I ignore both men, and she says, “Lacey was watching her…”

My mouth parts and I look at Fury and demand, “Who in the fuck allowed that woman alone with Tate when the girl barely knows her?”

Jax winces, knowing I don’t curse much, while Fury runs a hand through his brown hair and admits, “A new prospect. He was supposed to watch Tate for five minutes while I made her lunch, and Lacey conned him into leaving her in her care and playing the doting mother card.”

Skylar turns to him as the elevator doors open and snaps, “That woman is not to go near my girl again,” before storming into the elevator, pressing the number several times, not waiting for us. I look back at Fury, who has the biggest smirk on his face going, happy with her words, and I shake my head at the idiot.

Jax was wrong, he has messed up even more by allowing a new prospect near Tate, knowing Lacey would get a hold of her.

He’s a fricking idiot.

“Want to explain what Anna has to do with all this, cupcake?” Jax asks, and Fury raises a brow but I shake my head and state, “Nope. I suggest you go speak to Anna. "

Fury adds, “I would if she didn’t have a therapy session with Brick,” but I shrug.

The man won’t give up on his wife but the problem, while the brothers still believe she’s this evil bitch all because she acted out to get her old man to leave her, knowing he wouldn’t allow her to go otherwise and while she decides not to open up they won’t be able to move forward because now it’s past the point that Brick fathered another child. It’s how she’s been treated since he found her in bed with the prospect, after Brick had done what he did then just expected her to roll over and say fine when he wanted to pursue a relationship with his daughter, expecting her to be okay with it immediately yet if she had a child with someone else, blood would have been spilled.

Goddamn hypocrites, the lot of them, all judging her.

Shaking my head, I press the elevator button again and ask, “Where is Tate now?”

“At home with my mama, she’s alright. There's just a small bump to her head,” Fury replies, and I hum as we walk into the small box and press myself into Jax’s side again.

“And Lacey?” I question.

The woman was extra close with Misty, and I don’t trust her.

“On probation until further notice, no brother is to touch her, otherwise they’ll be demoted back to prospect,” Fury answers and I nod before placing my head on Jax’s chest. He wraps his arms tightly around me while I keep my thoughts to myself.

I understand he doesn’t want Tate to hate him, but keeping that woman around will do no one any good.

We walk out and head to the double doors as soon as they open and Fury presses the button for neonatal care before we’re buzzed in, and we walk inside and wash our hands, not wanting to spread anything in here.

Jax wraps his arm around my waist again as we walk towards the room Hudson is in, but panic hits me when I see Skylar standing just outside the door with her hand to her mouth, tears trailing her cheeks, and my stomach drops.
