“Does it matter?” he scoffed.
North gave him one of his lethally cold smiles. “No. See, I don’t like it when someone touches what’s mine without permission—”
“You killed my men first,” Roland said petulantly.
“Do I look like a fair, reasonable person to you?” North interrupted.
Roland pressed his lips into a thin line and shook his head.
“Good—at least we agree on that.”
“If you’re going to kill me, just do it—quit yappin’,” Roland grumbled.
“OhI’mnot going to kill you,” North said.
He stepped aside and nodded to me. Roland looked confused and irritated until I stepped up to him with a grin and realization dawned on his face.
“Who are you people?” Roland asked.
“Someone you shouldn’t have pissed off,” I shrugged. “Told you this wasn’t going to end well for you.”
I leveled the gun at him and pulled the trigger.
Knight and Lachlan took out the rest of the line. The helo was deafening as it hovered above us and a rope snaked down. I looked up to see West hanging out the door.
“Talk about valet service,” Lachlan chuckled.
He gestured to the rope and smirked at me. “After you!”

NYX
Once back at the hanger, I stormed into the bathroom after Atlas and threw the door shut.
He whirled to face me, his eyes narrowing when he saw whatever was written all over my face. I slammed my palm against his chest and backed him into the counter.
“What the fuck were you thinking?” I snarled.
“Nyx—”
“Risking your life? Are you fucking serious?” I seethed.
“They had an RPG—”
“I don’t care!” I shouted, chest heaving.
I turned away, running my hands through my hair. The bathroom was too small to pace. Atlas touched my arm.
“Nyx—”
I whirled towards him, my emotions all over the place. A half step brought me back into his personal space. I meant to shove him again but I just gripped his shirt in my fists as anger and something else swept through me.
“Reckless asshole,” I growled.
“Strange way of saying thank you,” Atlas breathed.
“I didn’t ask you to do any of that,” I said harshly.
