I could have cried. I was so thankful.

Pleasure rippled through my body as I continued to move my hips. His hand didn’t stop moving mine and soon I wasgasping as the tension coiled deep inside me. I didn’t dare close my eyes so I looked at Graham and my heart slammed into his. The look on his face was of a man completely in his power—a god, watching something he’d created come to life in his hands. It was intoxicating.

I stumbled to the edge of ecstasy and then faltered, fear coursed through me as my control bled away.

“Let go, pretty girl,” he panted, seeing the struggle on my face. His strong, unwavering gaze held mine, telling me you’re safe to fall and so I fell. And instead of shattering, The cracks in my soul grew smaller and the shadows didn’t seem quite so dark.

The fear in her eyes gave way to ecstasy and she cried out as she came, moving her hips as she rode my cock. My hand never stopped moving her fingers, helping her pleasure her way through her orgasm. I saw the victorious look on her face and knew a battle had been won and feeling her pussy clench around my cock, her pleasure pulled forth my own orgasm.

An aftershock rushed through me, taking my breath away and I wrapped my arms around her, burying my lips in her neck. It felt good to have her back in my arms. She drew shuddering gasps as she came down and she started to shake. I leaned back and pulled her into my chest. I knew it would be emotional for her. I rubbed up and down her back.

“Good girl,” I murmured. She buried her face into my neck and my arms tightened around her. The last few weeks I became obsessed with getting her back and I didn’t know why. All I was going off of was the tentative connection we experienced the day she was taken. I didn’t realize just how much I’d grown attached to her in such a short amount of time before she was ripped from me. But now she was in my arms again and I knew that’s where she belonged.

She was mine and we would figure everything else out later.

Her tremors stopped after a moment and she sat up and looked at me, tears still in her lashes.

My breath caught as I took in this beautifully damaged creature on my lap who somehow was sitting in a predator's arms fully trusting me not to hurt her. Even broken she was brave. I brushed one of her tears away and looked at her with a small satisfied smile tugging at my lips.

“Donuts,” I said. She immediately looked confused. “My favorite food is donuts.”

She blinked and then a laugh escaped her lips and for the briefest of moments she was alive again. I decided I’d do anything I could to hear that laugh again.

“Wow, now that’s two things,” she teased, climbing off my lap.

We cleaned up and she pulled on my flannel again. I saw the shadows come back as she wrapped her arms around herself, suddenly seeming self conscious. I walked over and ran a curl through my fingers.

“You okay?” I asked her. My hand rested on the back of her neck as she nodded. I kissed her on the forehead.

“I’m going to go make sure things are secure,” I said.

I grabbed a gun and some ammo and a few grenades for good measure. I saw her watching me, worrying her bottom lip with her teeth. I headed towards the door.

“Graham.”

I turned back to her.

“When do you think Cooper will get here?” I hesitated but she deserved the truth.

“I imagine the earliest would be tomorrow afternoon.”

“And your contact?”

My pause was longer this time even though I already calculated it in my head before I sent the message.

“Three days from now.” We stood there staring at each other. The implications clear. I didn’t want to mention that it was an optimistic number. If Cal was deployed on a job it would be longer. I turned and left the room. I knew Cal would get here as fast as he could. I just hoped we could hold out until then.

I checked all the rooms, strengthening a few of the boarded up windows. The back door was a concern. It wouldn’t close all the way and looked like at some point someone kicked it open. That was going to be our weak point. There was nothing to block it with. I spent a few minutes rigging a trip wire with a grenade inside the door frame. I dragged one of the bed frames and mattresses and blocked the door into the hallway so they couldn’t rush through the door and into the rest of the building. That would have to be enough. I walked into the kitchen.

This was another weak point because the window over the sink wasn’t boarded. I took the second mattress and cut up a piece to put over it, stripping a chair and using a few pieces of wood to fortify it. The front door was still solid. The main door latch was broken but the deadbolt worked so I was fine with that. I closed all the doors to the other side rooms with trips attached to loud items so I’d hear if anyone opened the doors. I didn’t want to waste anymore grenades inside the house.

I walked outside. The forest was alive in the darkness. The wind was howling through the trees, yanking them back and forth to the point they looked ready to fall. The forest here was sparse with lots of space between the trees and if it hadn’t been the dead of night and storming, I could have seen a fair distance into the trees and out further into the valley surrounding the rise we were on. I limited my movement outside, not wanting to give Cooper too much information. The last thing I did was rig a cistern to catch some of the rainwater then went back inside.

I bolted the front door and put an alarm system in place there then went back into the computer room. Kaelin was sittingon the blanket with a computer open in front of her with various parts strewn around her and one of our flashlights held between her teeth. She looked up at me when I came in.
