“I’m in thePrincessRetreat,”Itold her. “Whereare you?”
“I just got back from the gallery.”
Thank gods.
“ThePrincessRetreat?” she queried.
“We’re having drinks in hereASAP.SeeingasI’llbe princess,Idecree it, but we also have all sorts of stuff to talk about.”
“I’m in,” she replied.Thenasked, “Didyou knowPrinceTanynis here?”

This was not a new thing.Inthe past (thewaypast), demons of theEdgemade it known their feelings about theFirstFamiliesofNight’sFall.
And yes, it was that they thought they were demon traitors.
But that waswaypast.
That said, how that was made known was so ugly,IknewCat, as well asMr.Truelockand all theFirstFamilies, had some sensitivity around it.
“It was five hundred years ago.Heneeds to get over it,” she groused.
“Aleksei says he’s broody,”Itold her.
“I’ll say,” she replied. “Whyare we doing drinks there?”
“BecauseIneed a drink, andIalso need to suss out stuff with my gals.”
She knew me, so she knew whatIwas saying, and she proved this by mumbling, “Uh-oh, trouble in paradise.”
Absolutely.
“Just come when you’re ready,”Ibid. “I’mgoing to textGayleandMonique.Thisis aboutAleksei, andAleeceknows him better thanIdo, but even though she’ll give good insights,Idon’t know if it’s wise to invite her.”
“One hundred percent no,”Catadvised. “Iget she digs you, but if you talk shit about her big bro, that’ll go out the window.”
“It won’t be talking shit. He’sgenuinely acting weird.”
Her brows knit. “What’sgoing on?”
“Just come here after you’re done chilling a bit from getting back from the gallery.Doyou know where our suite is?”
