“To us.”
“To dragon-witch hybrid kids running amok.”
He laughed.“They’ll be a double threat with dragon fireandfire magic.”
Her eyes glittered with happiness as their glasses touched with a soft ringing, and then they took a drink.
The appetizer platter arrived shortly after, and while they picked between fried cheese, stuffed mushrooms, and fried chicken tenders, she said, “I guess we should talk about the future, huh?”
“Definitely.”
The conversation stopped, as if both of them were waiting for the other to kick things off.He already knew what he wanted, and he hoped it was what she wanted, too.
“I want to move to Sable Cove.”
Her brows rose.“What about the clan? The bookstore?”
He took a bite of stuffed mushroom and chewed thoughtfully.“Your coven is in Sable Cove. The clan can be anywhere.I don’t know if they’ll come with me, but I think they will.We could open a bookstore in Sable Cove, and hell, my dragon loves the mountains, but it’ll also be cool to fly over the ocean.Plus,” he said, giving her the full weight of his words, “I’d be anywhere you wanted to be, and I know how important your coven is to you.”
She squeezed his hand, her eyes simmering with emotion.“You’re important to me, Zay.I can be anywhere just so long as we’re together.”
Damn, he was falling so hard for her.
“Sable Cove?”he asked.
The words hung in the air between them for a long, quiet moment.
And then she smiled and nodded.“Sable Cove.”
When their food arrived, they talked about Sable Cove, the rescue and opening a bookstore, her house, and the others on either side. There were plans to be made and more conversations to be had, not only with the clan but also with her friends.By the time the plates cleared, a plan was taking shape and the future was slowly coming into view.
For the first time since he’d lost nearly everything in the warlock battle, he felt like his life was finally falling into place.
It had just taken a witch saving his life - twice - for him to figure out where his heart was.
Firmly with Kinsley in Sable Cove.
Note to Self: Coming home is the best feeling in the world.
At the end of the week spent in Ashwood Hollow, Kinsley and Zay packed their things, got into his truck, and headed to Sable Cove.It was a long but peaceful drive, and she got to enjoy the beautiful scenery as they talked about their plans for the future.Zay’s truck led the way while his clan followed in their vehicles. The sight of them in the rearview filled her with warmth. The dragons, who’d lost so much, had chosen to start fresh in Sable Cove, their new home.
They didn’t have to be afraid of discovery. They would keep each other safe.Dragons, witches, a vampire, and a fallen angel, would look out for each other.
Nysa stretched lazily on the seat between them, letting out a purr.
Kinsley scratched Nysa’s head and smiled.
“We’re almost there,” Zay said.
“I can’t believe how much has changed in a week,” she said.“Or really how much has changed since you and I met.”
“Yep, you had one grumpy dragon to deal with.Thankfully I came to my senses and realized what a fantastic person you are.”
“You’re pretty fantastic too.”
When they pulled into the rescue’s driveway that afternoon, the familiar sight of the rescue filled her with warmth. She’d really missed the animals and being with Delaney. She would have lived in Ashwood Hollow if that’s what Zay wanted because she’d go anywhere with him, but she was deeply thankful he wanted to be in Sable Cove.
Delaney opened the back door and waved.
