“Huh?” He acted like he hadn’t heard me, but damned if I was gonna let it go.

“Have dinner with me. There’s this great Italian place not far from here. They have amazing food. Have dinner with me.”

I must have lost my fucking mind for asking this man on a date after meeting him less than two minutes ago. There was something about him I couldn’t resist the moment I met his gaze.

Fitz seemed to think for a moment before a slow grin appeared on his face. “When and where?”

“Tomorrow night at eight? Give me your number, and I’ll drop a pin for you.”

I gave him my phone and he tapped in his number. I quickly texted him back. “That’s me if something happens and you’re gonna be late.”

Fitz nodded, giving me a slick smile.

TJ finally emerged from the restroom, and I extended my hand to the handsome man with the blond and gray hair. He was tall and lanky, but he was definitely a catch.

I put my hand on the back of TJ’s neck and dragged him out of the building. “You and I are gonna have a talk, TJ.” The kid said nothing.

“What the fuck were you doing on The Old Strip?”

I had TJ in the club’s church where the executive board met on important issues. Hobie and Spider were sitting in my office next door where they could hear everything. I was pretty sure they had their ears to the wall, but I wasn’t ready to involve anyone else because I wanted the kid to be honest.

TJ glanced up for a second before he looked back at the well-worn table. “I’m sorry, Bones.”

“TJ, kid, what the hell is going on? You’re not a troublemaker. You always play by the rules, and you bring in the cash. Was it a john from here that contacted you?”

“No.”

He didn’t meet my stare, which pissed me off. “Are you tricking on the side, TJ?”

The kid sighed. “Look, Bones. Like I said, it won’t happen again. I’ll keep my court dates and if I go down for giving that guy the beating he deserved, then I’ll do my time—”

“Kid, I’m not gonna let that happen. Tell me what the fuck is going on?” I could see he was a fucking mess, and there had to be a reason he beat the shit out of someone that he wasn’t sharing.

TJ sighed. “It’s a personal issue. I don’t want to bring the club or the house into it. I’m sorry, Bones. I’ll move out if you want.”

“No, TJ. We’re a family. We look out for each other, and like it or not, you’re a member of that family. I’ll give you a little time to think things over, but if you tell me what’s going on, the club will help.”

TJ finally met my gaze. “You can’t help me, Bones. I appreciate your offer, but nobody can help me.”

He stood from the chair. “Can I leave?”

“Yeah. Get Tiny to take you back to the house. Let me know your court date. Don’t fucking disappear on me.”

TJ walked out and didn’t look back. I stood and walked to the wall, knocking on it twice. Spider and Hobie came in through the secret door to the left.

“Keep an eye on him. There’s something going on that he’s not willing to tell us right now but watch out for him. I have a feeling he’s gotten himself into trouble, and I don’t want to find him dead.” Both of my guys nodded before they left.

Chapter Four

Fitz

I watched Sawyer Abbott walk out of our office, and my eyes fixated on his ass like a pervert. He was wearing tight jeans, a black T-shirt, and well-worn boots, all of which looked like a second skin on him. He was beyond sexy, and I’d just agreed to a date with him. Or maybe it wasn’t a date? Fuck if I knew.

Why would I go on a date with a guy who was much younger than me? Oh, it was easy to see why. He was the man of my fantasies in a younger model.

Sawyer rode a motorcycle, which fueled my bad-boy imaginations. His hair was fucking gorgeous—dark brown with blond highlights that he had pulled back into a long braid. I wanted to wrap my hands in it while he… yeah, that wasn’t appropriate at all.

Guys as young as Sawyer didn’t want old fuckers like me, and guys my age didn’t want guys my age. I hated the idea of being alone for the rest of my life, but I had to accept the days of finding the right guy might be long behind me.
