“Something funny, Lass?” he asked.

She was honest.

“I was just thinking about how meeting you has been the most amazing thing.”

Oh, he felt the same.

Leaving kisses on her shoulder, he nuzzled her.

“I want to get married immediately.”

She looked over.

“Oh.”

He explained.

“My mother is going to hear about you, if she already hasn’t. Catherine will tell Maisie, Maisie will call Caroline, Caroline will call Bonnie, and Bonnie will tell Blair, Kenna, and Elsie.THEN, FIONA,my sainted Catholic mother, is going to show up here. If she catches me knocking up a lady, without a wedding, I’m a dead man.”

She laughed.

“Okay,” she said. “I’m down with eloping.”

God.

He loved her.

“Thank you for being mine, and that after a singular day, you saw me and knew.”

She rolled over, and touched his cheek.

“You were meant to be mine. So, Fineas, make it happen. Then, we have to take that trip back to the States to pack me up. I have to get my things, and get a realtor to sell my place.”

He was curious.

“What’s it look like?” he asked. “Your home.”

She ran her fingers through his chest hair as they had some pillow talk.

“I live in a brownstone in the heart of Georgetown. I walk to the coffee shops, the bookstore, and the farmer’s market.”

He listened.

“And you’ll be okay giving it up?”

She smiled.

“For you? For a chance at being a family and having people I love around me? Yes. I only hope your mother likes me.”

She had nothing to worry about.

“She will. Trust me. While her baby boy, all my siblings are married with kids. She has twenty-one grandchildren. She’s greedy and wants more.”

She laughed.

“Well, then, sign me up.”

He kissed her.
