If any of that had been real.
“Someone’s in the castle, Baby. Stay here with Rufus, and make sure you keep the door locked, and don’t open it unless I say‘Diablo’. Got it?” he asked, digging his gun out of his pack, and slipping on his shoes.
“Yes, Gamble, but be safe for me.”
Oh, he would.
So not to be naked, Poe began pulling on some clothes, and when Gamble gave him a kiss and then set him free, he was scared as the man was out the door.
This was bad.
Having someone in their home…
That freaked him out.
Poe cuddled their dog, and prayed that Gamble would be okay.
Oh, and that Von Donore wouldn’t take him away.
Again.
As Gamble headed down the stairs, he was listening to everything in the castle all around him as he tried to pinpoint the‘problem’.
The lights were still out, and as he moved in the shadows, he kept seeking out the intruder.
He could hear someone rustling about, and tossing shit everywhere.
Oh, it was most definitely coming from the library.
As he moved toward it, and stood in the doorway, that was when Gamble saw they definitely had a problem. He was standing by the desk in the library, ripping it apart.
Drawers were on the floor, and papers were everywhere.
That pissed him off that someone was desecrating Poe’s home.
Their home.
Apparently, this piece of shit was also looking for the crypto key code. Yeah, it was official. Von Donore definitely knew they were there, and that the code still hadn’t been found.
Shit.
Earlier today hadn’t been some coincidence where a hunter was out hunting and came across them. They had been watched.
The jig was up.
With this happening, that kicked up the timeline, and it was evidently clear that time was really running out.
When Gamble moved into the doorway, his shoe must have brushed something on the floor because it gave his position away.
Immediately, the hooded figure wearing a mask looked up.
In his one hand, he had a gun and shot at Gamble, who moved just in time behind the wall. The stone chipped, and pieces ricocheted around him.
Gamble got ready to fire, and as he stepped out, the man bum rushed him to get past him. He slammed into him, and that took Gamble down.
Someone was fast on his feet, and likely had military training.
Gamble slid across the floor as the intruder was running for the main foyer door.
