Finally, Dakota went there.

“Is he leaving forever?” he asked.

She wasn’t sure.

“Honestly, guys, I can’t tell you that. I also can’t tell you where he’s going, or what he’s going to do, but he needs some time. He’s had a rough year. You know the saying. If you love something, you set something free…”

Zayn finished.

“Then you track it down, find it, and drag it home,” he said, like that was the sanest thing ever.

They all stared at him.

“What?” he asked. “You guys should try this chair out. It’s fucking awesome.”

When MATE appeared by his head, she whispered to him.

“I knew you’d like my hands on you. Next, you’ll be mine,” she said.

He jumped up from that chair so fast and ran around the island not far away to hide.

They just shook their heads.

Well, that was the most normal shit they’d seen as of late. Zayn was playing hide and seek from the AI.

And losing.

“Like I was saying, he has some shit to handle. Give him time.”

It looked like they had to do just that. Only, they were a little wary.

Why?

They gave him time and space last time, and Storm decimated him.

Elizabeth saw the fear.

“He’ll be in good hands. I promise. If I was a betting woman, I’d say you’d see him again before you knew it.”

They hoped she was right.

“Tell him when you see him that we love him, and we hope to see him again. He’s always welcome here,” Maura said. “He’s family.”

She smiled.

“He knows. He loves you guys too. Trust me when I say he’ll never forget you nuts,” she said.

Looking at her watch, she yawned.

“Mind if a girl crashes in a spare room?” she asked. “I have to stick around until Gamble is out, and handle some shit.”

They didn’t.

Why?

Family loved you no matter what.

“Have at it, Creep-a-rella,” Zayn said.
