At first, I was worried no one would tune in. But people are actually waiting for it. I get messages from people every week, asking for updates, telling me how much they love it. I’m just… shocked.
It’s not just about the game anymore—it’s about the personalities, the behind-the-scenes stuff, the players’ lives. People eat it up.
And the higher-ups are loving it, too. They’re talking about putting more resources into it, and if this keeps growing? They might even give me a full-time role with more segments.
Janice said she’s already pushing for a weekly newsletter, andIce Talk With Daisymight just be its feature.
I feel like I’m on top of the world.
It’s like the universe just lined everything up, and I’m finally getting what I deserve.
I’m sitting there thinking about how perfect everything is when I feel a kick from one of the babies. I gasp, placing my hand on my belly.
“Did you feel that?” I ask Beau, who’s lounging on the couch, scrolling through his phone.
He looks up, his eyes wide. “Is that...?”
I nod, smiling like an idiot. “Yeah. That’s the little ones.”
Beau gets up and comes over to me. He gently places his hand on my belly, and for a second, it feels like everything’sright. He smiles, his expression softening. “I can’t believe this is real. You’re… you’re having our babies.”
“I can’t believe it either,” I say, my voice thick with emotion. “But I’m glad it’s with you.”
The weeks keep flying by, and now we’re at seven months. I’m almost there, and everything’s running smoother than I ever expected.
The babies are growing like crazy, and I’ve got the best support system I could ask for. Between the guys and my new role at theHerald, things couldn’t be better.
Even Uncle Ace calls me more now—he promised to be there for me and he is, even though he’s now aware of my little situation. He checks in, asking if I need anything. We’re becoming closer each day.
I take a deep breath, running my hand over my belly again. I can’t wait to see what comes next. I’m ready for it all.
CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVE
Mason
The game was insane. The Miami Icemen took the victory, 4–2 against the Orlando Guardians.
It’s been an electric season, and each win is like another checkmark in the long list of things we’re proving to ourselves and the league.
We’re on fire. Every guy’s on top of his game, and I can’t help but feel the adrenaline from the locker room after that final whistle.
But as much as I’m riding high on the win, my mind isn’t on the game. Not at all. Kieran leans in, grinning. “You still on, man?”
I look over at him, then glance at Beau. “Of course,” I say. “We’re doing this.”
“All right.” Kieran laughs, already heading for the door. “Let’s go get cleaned up. Don’t want Daisy to walk in on us looking like we just came out of a fight.”
We all head to the showers, but my thoughts are somewhere else. I can’t shake the excitement buzzing in me.
Tonight’s for Daisy. We’ve been planning this surprise for weeks. She has no clue what we’ve been up to, and I’m stoked tosee her face when she walks in. Beau, Kieran, and I have been working together to pull this off.
The guys know this is big for me. For us. We’ve all been getting ready for this moment.
I’ve never been more grateful for these guys. They’ve stepped up in ways I didn’t expect. It’s not just the baby shower.
It’s the way they have been there for me since my mother stopped contacting me. It’s everything. The support. The love. The team.
It’s all perfect. I’m ready to share this moment with Daisy. She deserves it.
