“Twins,” I repeat, my voice still stuck in my throat.

The doctor is still talking, but all I can hear is the sound of my own heartbeat. Twins. This shit just got real.

CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO

Kieran

I tapmy fingers against the steering wheel, my knee bouncing. Mason exhales sharply beside me, crossing his arms as he stares at his phone.

“She’s being so fucking cryptic,” he mutters, shaking his head. “Why wouldn’t she just tell us how it went?”

I nod, keeping my eyes on the road. “Yeah.” My voice is tight.

I don’t like not knowing. It’s been hours since her appointment, and she hasn’t said a word in the group chat. Not a single text, not even a damn emoji.

Mason sighs again, shifting in his seat. “You think it’s bad news?”

My grip tightens on the wheel. “I don’t know.”

I fucking hate this. Not knowing. Not being there with her. My stomach has been twisted up since we found out she was pregnant, but this silence? It’s worse.

When we finally pull into Beau’s driveway, Mason’s already unbuckling before I’ve even turned off the engine.

“She’d better have a good reason for keeping us in the dark,” he says, slamming the door shut.

We walk up to the house, neither of us talking. Mason knocks once before pushing the door open.

Inside, Daisy is curled up on the sofa, looking way too comfortable for someone who’s had us losing our minds all day.

Beau is leaning against the wall, arms crossed, like he’s waiting for us.

“Hey,” he says.

Mason doesn’t even acknowledge him. “What the hell, Daisy?”

She grins, like she hasn’t been torturing us.

Beau straightens. “We’re having twins.”

Silence.

Mason blinks. I swear my brain short-circuits.

“The fuck did you just say?” Mason asks.

Daisy laughs. Full-on laughs. She’s glowing, looking way too entertained by our reactions.

“Twins,” Beau repeats, smirking.

Holy shit.

I run a hand through my hair, exhaling. Mason just shakes his head, then grabs Daisy’s face and kisses her hard.

I’m still processing, but my body moves on instinct—I grab her next, pressing a kiss to her forehead, then her lips.

She’s still laughing, and I swear my chest feels lighter than it has in weeks.

“We’re gonna be dads,” Mason mutters against her hair.
