“Shush,” he breathes as he takes a step back.

I want to argue and demand he returns, but then the sound of clothing being removed hits my ears, and I swallow the words.

Oh god.

He’s here.

“I thought you were coming back this afternoon,” I whisper as clothing hits the floor.

My room is in darkness, but my eyes are adjusting, and I can make out his shadow as he moves.

“Couldn’t wait,” he muses, and my heart tumbles in my chest.

He came back early.

Desire races through my veins, and heat floods my core.

He’s here. He came back early for me.

“I booked the first flight I could get. Left Linc snoring in his bed.”

“Am I dreaming?” I whisper into the darkness as the sheets are lifted from my body.

A shiver runs down the length of me, goosebumps chasing it, but it’s not from the cold. It’s him.

It’s always him.

“No, baby. You’re not,” he rasps as he climbs in beside me, wraps his hand around my neck, and searches out my lips.

“You’re here,” I repeat, still unable to believe this.

He’s here. In my bed. And…I slide my hand down his toned back to his…And he’s naked.

Miracles do happen.

“Oh god,” I whimper as his warm breath rushes over my face before his lips brush mine.

“I couldn’t wait any longer,” he repeats. “I need you.”

His grip tightens andfireworks shoot down my body as I hitch my leg up to wrap around his hip, needing him closer.

A needy whimper spills from my lips as his tongue pushes inside, greedily searching for mine.

He’s here.

He couldn’t wait any longer.

Twisting my fingers in his hair, I kiss him back as if he’s the air I need to breathe.

For a few seconds, our kiss is soft and slow, but that soon changes as the electricity crackling between us sparks, flames exploding everywhere.

Our kiss turns wild and messy as our tongues tangle and our teeth clash, our hands roaming over every inch of skin we can touch.

“Wait,” Kodie says, sitting up in a rush and ripping his body from mine.

“Come back,” I complain, reaching for him with grabby hands like a toddler who’s lost her snack.

Suddenly, light fills the room, and I wince, my eyes watering as they fight to adjust.
