“You better have a great reason for waking me up this early, Dane,” she rasps, pretending to be mad, but I don’t miss the twitch in her cheek that tells me she’s trying not to smile. She’s adorable with her messy hair and warm, flushed skin, making me want to crawl back in bed with her and stay in this room all day. But it’s already late enough, and we have a schedule to keep.

“Okay, first of all,” I say. “It’sDaddyto you.Secondly, it’s almost noon, sleeping beauty.” Her head whips to the nightstand, where the clock confirms my claim, before training her eyes on mine.

“Maybe if someone didn’t wake me three times to fuck, I’d have been up hours ago,” she mumbles. Looking around the room, I pretend I didn’t hear her for a few seconds before going in for the attack. I dig my fingers into her sides, and she howls a laugh, the sound like music to my ears while she unsuccessfully attempts to wiggle out of my grip. I take mercy on her, pressing a chaste kiss to her lips and standing to my feet as I lift her naked body into my arms. The first slide of her soft skin against my bare chest has my cock thickening under my boxer briefs. As much as I wish I could take her again, especially knowing what we have planned for today, I need to get her showered and fed so we can be on our way.

“I didn’t hear you complaining while you came on my cock with two fingers stuffed inside your tight little asshole,” I reply, passing through the bathroom doorway and depositing her onto the counter. She chokes on a laugh as I turn away, reaching into the shower and twisting the lever to warm the water for her. While we wait, I can’t stop myself from stepping between her parted legs and pressing my mouth to hers in a passionate caress. She moans as I lick at the seam of her lips, pushing my tongue against her and massaging it softly. Her thighs tighten around me, but I back away before she can lock those dangerous ankles behind my back. We both know that if that happens, I’m inside her in seconds.

“Get in the shower, naughty girl,” I scold, lifting her up and placing her onto her feet. “I’m going to order us some breakfast. It should be here by the time you get out, then we can get ready for some birthday adventures.” A bright smile stretches across her beautiful face, her chin dipping shyly like she isn’t used to people making a big deal out of her birthday. I know that isn’t true, because her family is all about celebrating each other, but it makes me think that her ex didn’t go all out for her on special occasions. That’s just another way I’m different from him, because I’d throw her a party every day if she’d let me.

Unable to bear the thought of leaving without another kiss, I step forward and press one more to her plump, pink lips. Her smile grows even wider, making my heart flip in my chest at the sight. “I love you,” I say, still in disbelief that I can actually tell her that. I imagine I’ll repeat myself a thousand times before the weekend is over, especially knowing that I’ll get to hear it back.

“I love you too,” she replies sweetly, turning on her heel and disappearing behind the steamed glass. Knowing we’re on a time crunch, I hurry out of the room, order everything she likes from the menu, and get my stuff together so today goes off without a hitch. I can’t wait to show her what I have planned and prepare to cross yet another item off her list.

“Where are we going?” Livvy asks for the millionth time as I navigate my rental car down the city street. We had an amazing day of exploring my hometown, complete with a tour of the famous bulk candy store that I had cleared out just for us. She was in awe when she saw their wide variety of flavored Twizzlers, filling several bags to take back home to Cleveland. Then, my mom met us in the private room of a local restaurant, where we had dinner and enjoyed some flaming birthday cake. Sydney very much enjoyed the photos, thanking me for making her feel like she was with her sister on her special day. I wish we could’ve done things in a more public way, but I didn’t want to risk anyone snapping photos of us and our relationship getting out before my girl is ready. We’ve still been able to have a little bit more freedom than we do at home, since most of the residents aren’t used to high-profile people passing through. Sure, some of them know who I am, but they do a pretty good job of letting me relax when I visit home. Even so, I’ve done my best to keep us secluded from large groups, so Livvy can celebrate without feeling like anyone is watching.

“I already told you,” I say, a cocky grin tipping up the corners of my mouth. “It’s a birthday surprise, and you can’t know until we get there.” In a spectacular show of attitude, she slumps back in her seat, crossing her arms over her chest like a child. I bark a laugh, reaching over the center console to take her small hand in mine. She side-eyes me, but can’t hold back her smirk as it slowly blooms into a full-blown smile. I fucking adore this girl, and it isn’t lost on me how lucky I am tobe the one spending the day with her. I’m sure her family would’ve loved to have her there with them, but she chose me, and I’m so goddamn grateful for it.

Ten minutes later, we’re pulling into the dark, empty parking lot of a small strip mall. I see Liv’s wheels turning as she tries to figure out which shop we’re here to visit, her eyes scanning the backlit signs that hang above each entrance. It’s late, so there’s only one car in sight—a blacked-out Jeep that belongs to my childhood best friend. Dylan Adams and I grew up together. We didn’t stand a chance of not being close, with our moms basically like sisters. We were born just a month apart, and when our lives went in different directions after graduation, we stayed in touch the best we could. There’s absolutely nobody else I’d trust with what I’m about to do.

Her head turns, attention locking onto the only interior lights that are still on at this hour. She slowly twists my way, confusion written all over her expression. “Are we getting tattoos?”

A subtle smirk pulls at my mouth. “You can if you want,” I reply with a shrug. She releases a feisty little growl at my ambiguity, causing a laugh to burst from my chest as I exit my side of the car and run around to open her door. Ignoring her playful scowl, I extend a large hand between us, pulling her from the seat. I take advantage of the desolate lot, weaving our fingers together as we make our way toward the entrance of Paradox Ink. Dylan agreed to stay late for me tonight, which I’m grateful for because I’m way out of my comfort zone. But it’s Liv’s birthday, and I want to showher just how devoted I am to giving her everything she’s ever wanted.

Pulling the door open, I place a gentle hand on her lower back, letting her lead the way into the lobby. It’s empty, but the muffled sound of heavy metal music coming from behind a thick red curtain tells me that we’re definitely not alone. Livvy’s eyes bounce around the intricate art that adorns every vertical surface, brows still pulled tight in perplexity. I look my fill for as long as I can, admiring how fucking gorgeous she is in her birthday dress. It’s another tight little number that hugs every one of her mouthwatering curves, this time with an actual coat that she let me buy her earlier while we were out. The soft black fabric clings to her like a glove, and I’d give anything to peel it off her right here.

Unable to stop myself from feeling her in my hands, I yank her into me, so my front is sealed tightly to her back. I snake my arms around her body, flattening my palm over her abdomen and dipping down so she can hear me. “You look edible tonight, baby,” I whisper, nipping at her earlobe. She turns her head, her bubblegum lips just inches from mine. My eyes flit to them for a split second, their sweetness practically begging me to lean in for a taste. But before I can, a deep, familiar voice fills the air, breaking us apart.

“This isn’t really going to work if you’re pitchin’ a tent, my guy. How about we save that for later?” I groan as Liv’s eyes go wide, her attention focusing on Dylan as he stares at us with an idiotic grin plastered across his face.

“Olivia Grant, this is Dylan. He owns the shop. He’salso a fucking asshole, so don’t believe anything he says,” I tell her, earning the cutest giggle as I look up at him. “Dyl, this is my girlfriend, Livvy.”

“The pleasure’s all mine,” he says, reaching out to shake her hand. His jet-black hair and ink-covered skin make him look intimidating, but the two deep dimples that sink into his cheeks when he smiles are a dead giveaway that he’s just a giant teddy bear. “You’re far too pretty for this piece of shit.” He leans in, whispering loud enough for me to hear. “Blink twice if he’s holding you against your will.”

She looks up at me over her shoulder, lips pulling to one side. “He has enough redeeming qualities to keep me here of my own volition.” She shrugs. “He’s tall. And rich.”Such a little brat.My contract and endorsements equal a small fraction of what she’s worth, but that doesn’t stop her from busting my balls, as usual.

I huff an incredulous laugh, pinching her side in retaliation. “Smart-ass.”

“I like her,” Dylan says, walking around us and locking the door so no unwanted guests think the shop is open for business. “Let’s hope she doesn’t smarten up anytime soon. Come on back.” With a subtle cock of his head, he turns, leading the way for me and Liv to follow. We disappear behind the heavy curtain, traveling down a short hallway that leads to a well-lit room. It’s fairly empty and sterile-looking, save for a wall of drawers and cupboards with several jars and tools set out neatly. An adjustable table sits in the middle of the dark marble floor, a large ring light positioned just over top of it.

Livvy sucks in a gasp. “Are you getting pierced?”

An ear-to-ear smile stretches across my face as I look down at where she’s practically frozen in place, still not completely sure of what’s going on. “Yep. Happy birthday, baby.” She’s silent for several more seconds, and I wait patiently as everything clicks into place.

“You’re getting your—” She pauses, lowering her voice. “Maddox, what the fuck? You can’t do this.” She looks terrified, as if she’s the one that’s about to get a needle pushed through her most sensitive body part, making me chuckle as I hop onto the table and lie back. It’s not reclined all the way, so I can see the panic in her eyes as she hurries to my side. She goes to speak, likely in protest of my choice to do this, but I cut her off.

“I have two checkmarks left, Dimes. There’s no way in hell we aren’t finishing off your list, and I’m definitely not letting you ride someone else’s pierced dick. So shut that sexy little mouth of yours and hold my hand.” She hesitates for a moment, her brows knitting as she pulls her bottom lip between her teeth.

“Are you sure?” she asks. “We don’t have to doeverysingle thing, you know. You’ve already given me more than I could’ve imagined. I don’t need this.”

I take her hand, encasing it in mine. “I’m sure, Liv. List or no list, your wishes matter to me.” The unease that’s blanketing her expression falls away as my words settle in the air between us, and she nods her head, swallowing. I lean over, pressing my lips to hers and turning to where Dylan has been watching the whole thing go down. “Let’s get this shit over with.”

He gives me a tight nod of approval, plopping downonto the stool beside me. I try not to watch as he rolls a small metal tray closer, knowing that if I see the needle, I might actually shit my pants. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all in on this, but we’re talking aboutmy dickhere. The thought of shoving something sharp through it isn’t exactly my idea of a good time. I know it’ll be worth it in the end, though.

“Alright,” Dyl says, pulling on a pair of black latex gloves. “You already picked out your jewelry and signed the forms, so I’m ready when you are.” I mentally high-five myself for stopping in before Livvy arrived the other day, because my stomach is currently in knots. I can’t even imagine having to focus on paperwork right now.

I fill my lungs with oxygen, adrenaline already flowing through my veins as I pull my pants and boxers over my ass. Doing my best to relax, I focus my attention on Liv as Dylan gets to work cleaning and marking me up with a fine-tip marker. He hands me a mirror to check the placement, but I defer to my girl. She’s the one who’ll be sitting on it, so its location is up to her.

“What do you think, Dimes? Is that a good spot?” I ask, watching as her eyes travel down my body, studying the two purple dots that sit right under my head. Her throat works with a harsh swallow, her cheeks turning an adorable shade of pink as she nods in approval.
