He kisses me softly before pressing his forehead to mine. “Tell me it’s real, baby. Tell me you feel it, too,” he begs. “Please.”

My heart cracks at the desperation in his voice. My whole body is shivering with adrenaline as I nod my head, tears filling my eyes. “I feel it,” I whisper.

“Fuck,” he lets out a breath of relief. “I love you.”

“I love you so much, Maverick,” I reply as he picks up his pace, my orgasm barreling toward me.

“I’m so close,” he pants. “I need to feel you come on my cock, Bella.” A few more hard punches of his hips and I’m coming apart under him, my legs shaking as black takes over my vision. I’m barely coming down as I hear his loud grunt as he releases into me with jerky movements.

He slows, passionately kissing me for what seems like hours as he softens inside me. “That was incredible,” he whispers before carefully pulling out, watching as a mixture of our cum leaks onto the bed. Just like he always does, he uses his finger to push it back in, unable to let a single drop go to waste.

“One day, I’m going to put a baby in you,” he says, like it’s the most natural thing in the world. I gasp at his words, but he just winks before dropping another quick kiss to my lips.

Reluctantly, he gets up, walking to the bathroom and returning to the bed with a warm cloth. I let him clean me before pulling him back up next to my sated body on the bed. He hums contentedly as he cuddles behind me, pulling me into his chest.

“Fuuuuuckkkk,” he groans, running a hand down his face.

“What?” I ask, concerned.

“Which one of us is telling Twyla to cancel the breakup announcement?”

MAVERICK

I wakeup to a loud screeching sound filling the room. “What the fuck is that?” I grumble, pulling Bella’s warm body into mine.

She giggles, trying to pull away, but lucky for me, I’m a lot stronger than she is. “It’s your phone.”

“Mmmm,” I say into her hair. “Whoever it is can fuck right off. It’s the offseason.” The ringing stops but starts back up immediately. I throw a little tantrum, complete with a couple playful kicks to the mattress before reaching over Bella’s body and face-planting into her tits. “Can you grab that for me, baby?” I mumble, barely audibly, into her soft skin, earning a breathy laugh as I feel her reach over to the nightstand.

“It’s Twyla,” she says, panicked. I have no idea why she’s worried. Bella and I have been spending nights together for the past couple months and nobody has said a word. Even if Twyla still assumes it’s fake between us, we’re only doing what she asked us to do. We’re looking like a believable couple.

I look up at Bella to find that her eyes are as wide as saucers and her face is pale. “Should we tell her now that we’re reallytogether? Do you think she alreadyknows?Oh my God, she’s going to hate us for going rogue!”

I chuckle at her rambling. “Babe, how would she know? Plus, who cares if she does? What’s she going to do? Ground us?” I say as I press the button to answer the call, putting it on speakerphone. “Hello?”

“How’s my Defensive Player of the Year?” she sings. Fuck. I almost forgot about that. I was too excited about things becoming real between Bella and me.

“I’m pretty damn good,” I reply proudly.

“Well,” she begins, and I already know I’m not going to like this conversation. She’s definitely going to make me get out of bed. “Don’t be mad,” Yep. I knew it. “I scheduled you an interview with Tailgate Media for this evening during their five o’ clock live show.”

I wince. “Please tell me I can do it remotely from this hotel room without having to put on pants.”

“Sorry,” she says. “They want you live in the studio. The good news is that the interview is with Madison Rodgers, so Blaze will be there. And Tanner will be going as well since he won the Super Bowl MVP award. I arranged for a private plane to take you all back to Boston in two hours.”

Fuck.

“Okay,” I relent. As much as I would like to stay in this bed, wrapped up in Bella for the rest of the day, I have to remember how hard I worked to get this honor. I knew there would be lots of attention and interviews, and I need to embrace them.

She continues. “Have you seen Bella? I know she was in Vegas with you guys, but I texted her a bunch of times and she hasn’t replied.”

Bella shakes her head frantically beside me, mouthingnoover and over. But what’s the point in lying? “She’s right here. Do you want to talk to her?” I ask.

There’s a pause. “You guys know you don’t have to keep making people think you’re a couple, right? If you want the breakup to be believable, you can start going places without the other. Then we can just say you grew apart.”

Abso-fucking-lutely not. I just got her. There’s no way I’m letting the world think we aren’t together.
