“Halle? Princess? Look at me.”
She blinked. I cupped her cheek. She blinked again before her pupils figured out what they were seeing.
“How many fingers am I holding up?” I asked her.
She blinked again, and her nose wrinkled.I couldn’t stop myself from running my thumb over her lips. I just needed to touch her.
“Is this one of those ink blot tests? I always gave the wrong answer.”
I rolled my eyes as I realized I was holding a gun in my hand and trying to hold up two fingers along the way.
“Okay. Fine. How about this? Why the fuck are you here? Can’t you ever listen?”
She smirked, and the crazy flickered back into those beautiful green eyes of hers.
“I was bored and thought I’d crash my fiancé’s wedding. Wanna fuck on the altar? I always thought church could be kind of kinky. All that thou shalt not stuff.”
This time, it was my turn to blink. My cock liked all the words, but my brain was fighting for control.
“How hard did he hit your head?”
A hiss escaped her lips as she tried to sit up.
“What? Are you saying that’s a no to the kinky church or the sex?”
I took in the outfit she was wearing, and my mouth went dry.
“Halle, what the fuck are you wearing?”
She looked down and pretended to smooth down the dress.
“It’s just a white dress your cousin lent me. Although, the blood might stain. Hey, Emilee?”
I took her chin in between my fingers and made her look at me.
“What the fuck are you wearing Halle?”
She shrugged. “It’s bad luck to wear white to a wedding, and I needed all the bad luck I could find.”
It was a white dress that was clear. It was more see through than white and damn. I looked around at the havoc my little princess had brought upon the church and my sham of a wedding. Her in white though? I’d marry her right now if it weren’t for the damn head wound thanks to my uncle. That man would die very, very soon.
“Would it be weird if I said, it’s judgment day? That would have been, like the best opening line. Halle, we need to work on your entrance,” Emilee said.
She came up around us and looked down at the woman I prayed had been at the altar, or well, rather not at this altar because I expected her to do things her way.
I didn’t follow my cousin as she walked away.
“Scream if anyone’s still breathing,” I said and kept my focus on my future. We stared at each other for a few minutes.
“I guess I should say thanks for helping fix the problem.” I said. “Could you never scare me again by not answering your phone?”
Slowly, I helped get Halle to her feet. She seemed to be just fine, because that was my princess. Somehow, always fine.
