“My brother really knows how to pick girls. I swear.”

I paused.

“Pick girls? How often does he ask you to kidnap girls then?”

A chair clanked against the floor one second and the next he was sitting near me with it backwards between his legs.

“Never. But it’s not kidnapping if he’s in love with them, is it?”

My hands started to tingle. The feeling was slowly filtering back in. Wonderful.

“Stalkers are always in love with their victims. Well, maybe not always, but a lot. It’s still kidnapping.”

His mouth seemed to be confused for a few seconds as it opened and closed.

“He wasn't stalking you.”

I was still circling back to girls. Were there others?

“He was.” I paused. “You remind me of someone. Wait. What did you call me before you stabbed me with a fucking syringe?”

He chuckled. The dimple on his cheek seemed even more familiar. What the hell?

“I called you rainbow. He said you would get it if I said that. You didn’t though. And then I had to drug you.”

He. He. Mother of all that’s holy.

“Fuck me running. You’re Parks’ brother?”

A wide boyish grin spread across his face.

“Ah, aren’t you just a sweet little thing?” He nodded down at my outfit.

“He’s my half-brother, really. And doesn’t he buy you clothes?”

I let a sigh out.

“Well, why would he buy his side piece clothes?”

I wiggled my wrist and moved my arm a little more.

“Believe me. You are not his sidepiece. And from what he has told me, he’s bought you plenty of things. Things to make you want to stay with him. Only, you keep leaving him.”

I moved my arm a little, and that felt draining as hell.

“Son of a biscuit. What did you shoot me with?”

He shrugged.

“I dunno. Parks said it was his favorite drug of choice and it was best I just didn’t know. That being said, he also said he hoped I wouldn’t need to use it.”

And now I was back to not moving because everything seemed like I was underwater with led weights.

“I can’t do this right now. I have plans. I was talking to my sister, and I have got to figure out things. I don’t have time for my ex.”

There was no getting up.

He pointed at me and shrugged.
