That one still just didn’t sit right with me. She wasn’t all bad, or maybe she was, but she’d helped me, so I’d give her some kind of peace.
“Yeah. She really had a gift, talking all those people into suicide. Do you ever wonder if it was because she was too lazy to off them on her own? Tragic.”
I smiled as Parks grabbed my ass.
“Well, okay. So, she was bad. But anyway. I got to talk to her for a few minutes, and she really helped me realize that I didn’t have to repeat my parents’ mistakes. That I was different. She said I was a lovely soul. I think I’m really at peace with my past.”
Parks pulled me in tighter.
“Princess, I love hearing that. I want this to be a fresh new start. Emilee is ready to make the announcement about her taking over and she is really going to need us by her side to survive.”
He shifted and pulled out of me.The bed felt cold, but at least I knew he’d always return.
“Alright. Well, let’s go do this marriage thing so you can fuck me again.”
He leaned over and kissed my shoulder.
“You’re going to give me a heart attack.”
I smirked and slid out of bed.
I’d gotten to choose the perfect wedding. A small, intimate affair on the beach. Emilee helped me figure out where that might me. A small island was just the ticket. No distractions.
“I’m heading over to Emilee’s room to put my dress on. Hand me that robe.”
Parks did as told, and I wandered down the hall. I knocked the secret knock that we all had agreed to. Anything to make it seem like we lived some kind of normal knowing there was our small circle.
“There’s the blushing bride. I can’t wait to get married someday.” She paused. “By my own choice this time.”
She followed me over to where my simple dress hung. It was white, because this was my new life. My new start.
“Here, put your hands up and I’ll slip it over your head.” I did as she asked. The dress slid over my skin and fell to just below my knees.
“I never thought I’d be doing this. Me? Getting married.”
Emilee started to tie up my hair, and I took a lot of deep breaths.
“Parks is crazy about you. It’s like a match made in Heaven. I mean maybe God named you his karma angels. You ever think of that?”
I shrugged. “I never thought anyone was looking out for me until I met Parks and you. And, well, his brother. Although, I’m still mad he drugged me.”
We laughed as she finished my hair, and I put on a little makeup. It wasn’t like Parks didn’t like me oh naturel.
“Alright. Let’s go. We were supposed to be out there already. The sun is starting to set.”
The sand squished between my toes as Emilee walked me out to the small arch set up on the beach.
“Oh, wait.”
We paused and Emilee ran back inside the small resort that we’d rented out.
“Here, your flowers.”
My hand shook even as I wrapped it around the stems.
“Don’t let me ruin this. Okay?” I said.
She squeezed my arm and pulled me back out onto the sandy beach. I could see him now. Standing there with his brother by his side.
