“How did you think he was going to find the house since he doesn’t know where it is?” Ebony turned her infamous glare at me.

Shrugging the best I could while lying on the ground like I was, I tried to scowl back. “No clue. Guess we’ll just have to go find him.”

“What are you doing?” All of Ebony’s features scrunched on her face. “Just don’t. Don’t keep trying to look mean. You look constipated. It’s like a damn otter trying to be menacing.”

“One day I’ll perfect it, and then I’ll show you,” I shot out, sitting up. “Now, how about we go get my mate and go find yours?”

“Right.”

As Ebony went inside to find Bernie, I sat there for a few more minutes thinking. The fact that Karma hadn’t arrived yet to claim the hammer didn’t sit well with me, but what could I do?
