“Ebony.” Cherry’s voice penetrated the rage muddling my mind. “Ebony, he is not moving.” A hand gripped my shoulder, and dazedly, I lifted my gaze to hers. “He is not moving,” she repeated, a troubled look on her face.

For the second time, my heart shriveled in my lungs. My eyes flicked over her shoulder in time to see a second person dressed in black with their arm cocked above their head and a blade as long as my forearm aimed at Cherry. Snatching her wrist where she held my shoulder, I yanked her down and fell on top of her to protect her from the dagger. A crashing sounded from behind me, and I looked over my shoulder to find Ash struggling with the second attacker. My head turned to check on Cherry, and dread washed over me.

Her eyes were closed, and she wasn’t moving.

I scrambled on my knees next to her. I was too late. They’d stabbed her. Frantically, my gaze darted around her body searching for blood, but there was none. With a tight grip on her shoulders, I shook her with a desperation I’d never felt.

“Cherry.” My tone was pathetic and desperate. “Cherry, open your eyes. Look at me, damn you.”

“Ebony.” Ash stepped closer, but I didn’t want to hear whatever he had to say.

“Shut the fuck up,” I screamed at him. “Cherry, open your eyes, damn you. I’ll kill you myself if you don’t open your fucking eyes.”

“Awww, Ebs.” The bitch grinned at me with her eyes still closed before she blinked them open. “I knew you loved me. See? Was it that hard to admit?”

“I’m going to kill you.” My snarl was drowned by her giggles when Ash snatched me around my waist and pulled me away from her.

I was seriously going to strangle her.
