Chapter Six

Cherry

Ebony liked this guy.

She seriously did.

I could totally tell by the way she stared at him with that “I’m undressing you” kind of smoldering gaze.

It was because of that I opened my mouth, thinking if I gave her a little push, she might get a little down and dirty time later, which would probably greatly improve her mood because who was ever in a bad mood after mind-blowing sex?

Certainly not me.

I just hoped he was good in the sack.

Straightening and crossing one leg over the other, I planted my elbows on the bar. “Personally, Ash, chances are for the birds if you ask me. When two people are brought together, it’s usually for one of two reasons. One, they are about to get down and dirty for a night and take a little romp in between the sheets.” Snickering at my words, I took a deep breath and continued. “Or two, it’s an enemies to loves kind of situation, where you hate each other until you don’t. That’s my favorite because angry sex is so much fun.” Clapping and twirling the stool, I gripped the edge of the counter to stop myself. “Anywhoooo, the way you two are staring at each other, there’s about to be some hot sex happening. I know these things.”

Ebony grasped my arm so hard I thought she might rip it off, but I had to suppress my laugh because I knew exactly why. She was embarrassed. Her rosy red cheeks told me that much, and my chest expanded with pride.

If I could embarrass Ebony, I was well on my way to success with this whole wearing her down plan I had.

Ripping me off of the stool and to my feet, Ebony hauled me away, darting nervous glances toward Ash. “It’s time for a trip to the little demoness room.”

Wrenching my arm, I tried with absolutely no success to pull away from her. “I don’t actually need—”

“Excuse us, Ash. We’ll be back momentarily.” Ebony locked her grip even tighter by wrestling her arm about my neck and squeezing like a python about to eat its prey.

Giggling the whole way to the little girl’s room won me no favors in the Ebony department, at least if her rage-filled eyes were any indication. Personally, I thought she should take a deep breath and dive right in because that guy was fine, with a capital F.

Kicking the door open, Ebony shoved me inside, glowering with so much fury that everyone inside scurried out, fear etched into their wide-eyed gazes. I didn’t blame them. Good old Ebs could be just a tad bit high on the scary-o-meter when she got her panties in a bunch. If she even wore panties. My guess was she didn’t. She looked like a boxer-shorts type of gal.

“Cherry, what the ever loving shit is wrong with you?” I could’ve sworn a steady stream of steam flew from her nostrils, and out her ears too.

Unable to stop the chuckle from falling from my well-maintained lips, I covered my mouth with my palm.

“Why did you do that? You thought right now would be the best time to act like a dumbass?” Ebony’s hands fell to her sides, and her fingers clenched and unclenched like she wanted to punch something. And she probably did.

“It’s pretty funny, honestly.” Shrugging, I pressed my back against the tiled wall, admiring myself in the mirror to my left while cringing at the stalls to the right. “Ash was suspicious. I made you into a young, lustful woman who’s looking to get her socks knocked off. No more wariness from Ash. We gotta use what your god-Momma gave you girl. No price is too high to get that hammer.” I felt like flexing my biceps, so I did. “Or you think he needs a gun show?”

Ebony’s unblinking eyes stared at me like she had no idea what to say. I had that effect on people from time to time. It was all this love inside of me. “What the actual fuck is wrong with you? Did you get dropped too many times on your head as a child?”

Angling my head at her, I blinked repeatedly like that girl from “Legally Blonde,” my all-time favorite movie ever. “What do you mean?”

Blowing out a whoosh of a breath that seemed to never want to end, Ebony paced the two steps between the stalls and the partition wall at the entrance. “Okay. Whatever. Let’s move on. You made me out to want to be a sex maniac for whatever insane reason, so I guess we will go with it. But we need a good cover on why we are in this bathroom because he is never going to fall for we needed to pee all of a sudden.”

My eyes stretched open as far as they would go, and I grinned. “Oh, so you’re saying you ruined my fabulous plan then?”

Stopping in her tracks, Ebony shook her head. “What? No, I …” Her words trailed off and she glanced at the ceiling before glaring at me. “Okay, do you have any lipstick?”

Clapping vigorously, I rushed forward and grabbed both her arms right below the shoulder, and she might have angled away from me with a weird expression, but I tried my best to act like that never happened. “Finally. I get to do your makeup?”

“Lipstick, Cherry. That’s it. Nothing else.” Ebony looked like a feral beast who’d just been put in a cage.

With a devious grin, I reached into the hidden compartment on the inside of my corset. “Good thing I never leave home without it. I think you need a nice maroon.” Shuffling through the small tubes in my way-too tiny pocket, I grabbed the one I’d brought just in case Ebony finally gave in, which she did. It’s never a bad thing to always be prepared. “This should do the trick.”

Popping the top after I tugged it out, I leaned in, lipstick poised and ready to paint.

“What do you think you’re doing?” Inching back a few steps, Ebony’s scowl turned horrified and her eyes were crazed. “Give it here.”
