Chapter Nineteen

Xzavier

Prowling the throne room in my palace, I stewed in my rage. A roar sounding more beast than male reverberated off the walls and tall ceiling when my fist slammed into the smooth obsidian on the column. Slabs of rock rained down, breaking into pieces when one part of the ceiling caved in. The rock splatted across the marble floors, sending clouds of dust in the air.

A red haze bathed my sight.

“My Lord.” A shade writhed at one entrance in distress. “If there is anything you need …”

“I need you to find the fates so I can strangle those wrenched old bitches with my bare hands.” I roared in its face, and it disappeared in a puff.

Throwing my head back, I screamed until my voice was raw.

I had everything planned. When my father had told me he’d promised my hand in marriage to some sniffling Seelie princess, I’d lost my shit. There were too many females willing to let me sink into their bodies for me to tie myself to just one. But then I matured and learned more power meant I could do whatever I wanted without anyone daring to say a thing. Not even a Seelie, pretentious brat of a princess. So I made my plans.

First, she disappeared on me and I wasted sixty years looking for her so I could drag her ass back where it belonged. When I saw the crystal necklace discarded unassumingly with a broken chain on the floor of the mill where I finally found her, everything became clear. Someone helped her to hide from me, and as soon as I found out who that was, they’d beg for death that would never come.

Now?

As if the fact the fates fucked me in the ass by making sure she was my fated mate was not enough, I had to share her with three more assholes.

An incubus, a gargoyle, and an Archangel, of all cursed things.

On top of that, the female looked me right in the eye and told me, “If you want to honor the mate bond, you will denounce the right to the throne and come live in the human realm.”

Barking a laugh, I dropped on my knees, pulling the short strands of my hair out like a crazed male. Not just denounce the right to the Seelie throne, but leave my own as well.

For a female.

Raging inside and internally didn’t do jack shit about one thing, however.

Everything in me screamed to do what she said.

To listen to her needs, to cherish and protect her.

I would fight it with my last breath and stay where I was. There would be another way to earn the Seelie throne, I had no doubt about that.

Then why did it feel like my soul was being wrenched out of my chest? What I had to do was go to the Seelie asshole and tell him where his daughter was. But all I really wanted deep in my heart?

I wanted my mate.

Fuck me ten ways to hell.
