I put my phone back in my pocket and held my fist to my lips, pressing my smiling mouth against it, feeling that now-familiar fluttery feeling in my chest.
Oh boy, I was in trouble.
Chapter 13
“That PIG!” Becka exploded, her chicken Caesar wrap taking the brunt of her anger as she slammed it back into the container, lettuce spewing from the tortilla in little surrendering slivers.
I nodded, stirring my drink with the straw.
“You’re not the first girl he’s done this to,” Becka said darkly, “there’s always rumours about him.”
I didn’t reply, still feeling the ghost of his finger running along the waistband of my jeans. I shuddered and let go of my straw in disgust.
“You should go to HR,” Becka said matter-of-factly, picking up her wrap and taking a savage bite out of it.
“Oh yeah?” I huffed, “and how did that turn out for the other girls? Where are they now? Cos TK is downstairs, making millions for Pisces.”
“Ky, he sexually assaulted you,” Becka hissed. “Did he?” I leant back in my chair. “He touched my back −” I held up my hand to stop her when I saw her open her mouth to argue with me, “and while it was gross and inappropriate, I’m just an intern and he’s who he is.
“I’m only here for the year. I don’t want to get tied up in a game of reputation and ruin it for myself over something so minor.” Becka looked unhappy, but by the way she clenched her jaw and nodded, I knew she agreed with me, even if she hated it.
“I just want to forget about it and go back to being the invisible intern he doesn’t deign to notice.” I took a deep breath and puffed it out, picking at the skin around my thumb.
“I was going to ask you to deliver lunch to Studio 2 again,” Becka groused, “but I’ll get reception to take it up instead.”
“No,” I said quickly, “I’ll do it.”
