He turned toward me suddenly. “Hey, are you thinking what I’m thinking?”

“That depends,” I said. “What are you wearing in these thoughts?”

He laughed. “As flattered as I am you’re undressing me in your mind already, I think we should find a place where you can do it in reality.”

“You’ve got an idea?”

“I do. Head toward Riverton,” he said. “We can get a hotel room, just like I did for prom.”

“Uh, Parker, I’m not so sure about that.”

“It’ll be great,” he said, eyes bright. “We’ll have privacy, and a bed, and we can be as loud as we want. We can take our time, even spend all night.”

I hesitated, madly trying to add up all my earnings and expenses for the week, so that I could budget in this unexpected twist.

Parker placed his hand on my thigh, squeezing. “I’ll make it worth your while.”

Oh, fuck it. I gave up trying to figure out my finances. Maybe I could pick up some extra shifts at the bar or, hell, go without eating for a couple of days. An entire night to fully explore Parker’s body and indulge in all my fantasies? I couldn’t turn that down.

“Do I get a corsage?” I asked dryly.

Parker snorted a laugh. “No, but you get a blow job.”

“Even better.”

We reached Riverton an hour later. Parker pulled up navigation on his phone, directing me step by step toward the hotel he’d chosen. It wasn’t some cheap roadside motel, but it wasn’t the Ritz Carlton either. I could make it work.

He was uncharacteristically quiet on the drive to the hotel, and I was growing more nervous by the minute. We’d had instant chemistry every other time we’d been alone together. I wasn’t sure why it was different now, but I was as jittery as if I were on a first date.

And that’s when it hit me.

Thiswasa date.

A date to have sex, maybe, but a date. We’d made plans, I’d picked him up outside the Keg House about twenty minutes after taking off to get Darnell’s car and pick up some supplies, namely the condoms and lube Parker had recommended via text message.

We hadn’t eaten yet, and it was nearly seven now. As we made the final turn into the hotel parking lot, I blurted, “Should I buy you dinner first?”

Parker looked surprised by my question. Then, he started laughing.

“What?” I asked, feeling my neck and ears burn. Had I been too transparent? Did Parker not think of this as a date at all? That would make sense. We’d hooked up out of lust, not affection. I’d been an asshole in the beginning, full of hostility and resentment. The sex had been great though. And it just kept getting better. Maybe that’s all Parker needed. He had the team, after all. It wasn’t as if he could have a real boyfriend. And Jesus Christ, was I really thinking I wanted tobea boyfriend? My hormones were out of control.

“You’re offering to buy me dinner before I put out,” Parker said, still chuckling, face red from laughing his ass off at me. “That’s cute.”

I glowered at him. “I was trying to be considerate.”

“That’s nice of you.” He nodded, trying to look serious, but the effect was ruined because the fucker couldn’t stop smiling. Another laugh escaped.

I put the car in park and cut the engine. “Okay, let’s go. No dinner for you before I pound your ass.”

Parker grabbed my arm as I reached for the car door. “Wait, wait. I’m sorry. I’m just nervous, and that was funny because…” He grinned again, the asshole. “Well, a lot of reasons. But really, it’s better if Idon’teat before you fuck me. Don’t you think?”

He waited for me to understand, and then I did. And then I felt like an even bigger tool.

“Yeah,” I said, my mouth going dry.

“I couldn’t wait anyway, even if I was starving,” he admitted, his eyes fixed on me. “I want you too much. I feel like I’ll die if I don’t touch you—”

I lunged sideways, kissing him hard. He gasped against my lips and raised his hands to my head, tunneling his fingers through my hair. When my tongue pressed in, he met my advance with a needy sound that sent even more blood rushing to my cock.
