“Paul is hoping to make the Christmas wedding perfect. That is why the last seen in the film is actually scheduled to be shot last. If we get snow earlier, he will move things around.”

“Jordan, I’ve been looking for you.” Storm’s voice caused her to stiffen. “I hope you have an answer for our brunch tomorrow.”

Jordan counted to three before she turned around. “May I choose the place?”

“My cook will make it for us at my cottage. Would ten work?”

Jordan turned to Stu. “Can you accompany me tomorrow?”

“Certainly, Miss Lee.”

“He can’t come.” Storm stuck out his chin, reminding Jordan of the five-year-old she’d worked with earlier that year.

“Miss Lee had an attack on her life two weeks ago. Hearthfire is committed to her safety. She doesn’t go anywhere without authorized security.” Stu crossed his arms.

“But I’m in the cast.”

“And it requires a thirty-five-mile drive from Miss Lee’s hotel.”

Storm crossed his arms and glared at Andrew. “But she left with him last weekend.”

“Mr. Andrew is a member of Hastings Security, as is Mr. Adam, who was with them, and four other personal-security personnel as they escorted Miss Platt and Miss Lee to Chicago for the weekend. Miss Lee’s security was taken care of.” Stu stared the actor down.

“Well then, you escort her or send Rod.”

“I don’t have the personnel. But I’ll make sure she has security.” Stu turned to Andrew. “Mr. Andrew, as Storm’s brunch is Sunday and most of my crew has the day off, I wonder if I could hire you for the morning?”

“I can arrange that.”

Joy bubbled up in Jordan. Stu and Andrew had rescued her. Storm glared at her, then left.

Kittie ran over to the table. “Miss Lee, the director wants you back up on the hill at the top of the hour.”

“Thanks, Kittie.” Jordan checked the watch wardrobe had given her. “Yikes! I have two minutes. Bye!”

Andrew spent the rest of the afternoon with Stu, getting a feel for the location. “This place is massive. It makes my sister’s place seem small.”

“The original owner wanted a Scottish castle. Although I think he modeled his home after a famous German one. One of my concerns is we only have partial floor plans and the place is rumored to have secret passages. I’ve cautioned Miss Lee to stay in sight.” Stu led Andrew through the main hall. “I found an entrance to one over by the fireplace.”

“Have there been any threats this week?” asked Andrew, curious if Stu had shared any information with Ben.

“None that Miss Lee saw, but there was a photo of her father taped to her door. I sent it to Blake.”

Andrew nodded. Mr. Blake hadn’t mentioned anything. He would check with him later.

“And this is the ballroom. Paul contracted the place because of this room.”

“This room is out of a fairy tale.” Andrew turned slowly, taking in the gilded wood, mirrors, and chandeliers. Hidden balconies and nooks abounded. The ballroom would be a nightmare to properly secure for a real event.

Stu’s radio beeped. He took the message through his earpiece. “They are finished. Will you take Miss Lee back to town? We are leaving her trailer here. I put her in the same car as Paul, but it will be better if he can’t vent on any of the cast if something else went wrong.”

“No problem.” Andrew followed Stu out of the house. The cast and crew worked to put away any props and equipment, and Stu left in the direction of the trailers. Andrew watched as the trailers were filled and locked and the cars and SUVs began to leave. Andrew searched for Jordan and found her exiting her trailer in jeans and a sweatshirt. “Hey, Stu said I could ride back with you.”

“Do you mind?”

“Not at all. You are the only person on set besides Maria who won’t care if I close my eyes and take a nap instead of talking.”
