“No. You’ve worked overtime all week. I want you to sleep. Then you can drive up here safely. Please promise me you will.”

Andrew closed his eyes. The pull to hop in his car was almost as strong as the pull to abide by her wishes. “I won’t leave until I’ve slept.”

“At least five hours of sleep. I see your loophole.” There was a hint of a smile in her voice.

“You know me too well.”

“You’re my bodyguard. Good night. Get some sleep. And thank you for calling. I think I can sleep now.”

“Good night. Sleep well.”

“Drive safe.”

The line went dead. Andrew stared at the dark screen as if it could teleport his thoughts, or even himself, to her.

“Cut! And lunch break!”

Jordan shook out her arms.

Reggie did likewise. “Why did we agree to another archery scene?”

“We forgot how fatiguing it is to stand still while they film and we never get to shoot.”

“Just once I want to hit a target or something. It would be cool to see if we could have really shot the grappling hook up the side of the ship last year.” Jordan handed her bow over to the property’s manager.

“What are we supposed to be shooting this time, anyway?” asked Reggie.

“Wolves.”

“You are kidding me, right?” Reggie handed her quiver of arrows to Kittie.

“You sat in the same read-through I did, didn’t you? The wolves are threatening the town’s Christmas festival in our home country.”

“I thought we killed all of them off in season one.”

“Me too. But this time we need help.”

Reggie burst into laughter. “Oh, this is the opening sequence, isn’t it? I wasn’t paying too much attention to the notes as there wasn’t any dialogue.”

Jordan shook her head. “Thinking about your next movie?”

“Yes, I’m so excited. We start shooting in January!”

“For what?”

“Can’t tell you. But I will as soon as the press release is out. Let’s go get lunch before Paul calls us back for the next scene.” Reggie gave a low whistle. “It looks like someone is waiting for you.”

Jordan’s steps slowed. Andrew conversed with Stu over near the buffet table. Her heart sped up before her feet did. She stopped at the table for a sandwich and sliced cucumbers.

“Mr. Andrew, you made good time.”

“The sun rose nearly six hours ago. Stu gave me permission to stick around.” He smiled an easy smile, and Jordan’s world brightened.

“We only have one more sequence. Paul is shooting the opening credits. I’m hunting down a wolf in the forest using day for night. He likes how the sun is filtering through the trees and says it’s perfect for the full moon he envisions. He’d like snow, but...” Jordan shrugged. At least he wasn’t using the fake stuff.

“He may get snow in another three weeks. Not uncommon for kids to trick-or-treat in snow boots and coats.” Andrew picked up a sandwich.
