Good morning, good morning! As we near the end of the school year, I’d like to send out a few reminders about Atherton’s schedule. First, the annual play, “Friends Forever”—which has gender-neutral casting and costumes—will take place on Thursday, May 6, at 5:00 p.m. Remember: Filming isnotallowed. The school will send the produced video after the fact. That’s real, folks: If you try to take a video, you’ll be escorted out by Mac from the security team. Can’t wait for the show! It’s always so cute. And second, please RSVP to the Surrealist Ball benefit if you haven’t! The caterers need final numbers.

What’s a gender-neutral costume?
Gabby Mahler
You know, like Ken, beneath his underwear.?
Armena Justice
It just means anything in a primary color, pants and shirts, no dresses or suits and ties.
Jennifer Smyth
Honestly, that’s so sad. Little Jordy has the most adorable tie that we were planning to send him in.
Armena Justice
I’m sure the tie is just precious, but costumes are gender-neutral so as not to offend any child who feels between genders.
Jennifer Smyth
Not to get all culture wars on you, Armena, but that’s insane.
Armena Justice
Take it up with Dr. Broker! It’s not my rule!

Hi, ladies! I’m somehow still on this chat, all these months later. Can someonepleasetake me off? Please! I’m begging you!

Also, a note from the PA: Don’t forget to give to the Annual Atherton Fund before the end of the year. We have 78% participation from the lower school so far and are hoping to reach 100% before the last day of school, June 6.

Wait, I’m confused. What’s the Atherton Fund? Is that different from Atherton Gives Back?
Jessica Hillton
Valerie, Atherton Gives Back directly benefits local charities, such as neighborhood food banks and homeless shelters. The Atherton Fund donations go to the school and its facilities, things like our new gyms and the eighth-grade trip to Paris.

I’m still confused. So what does our… tuition pay for?
