His fingers moved down her neck to her shoulders and down her arms and he drew back slightly.

‘I'm sorry for what I said the other day,’ he said quietly. ‘I didn't … Perhaps one day you'll understand, but … it was wrong of me to continue to punish you for something that you don't even recall.’

She didn't say anything, but she relaxed in Nyx’s hold, starting to give in to what he was making her feel.

A tiny flame of hope lit in him. Mayhap there was some way that they could all be together again. It was a tiny spark, but at this moment it was enough.

Rye began to kiss her neck and when she did not allow him access, Nyx took her sodden plait and moved her head to the side.

Rye grinned at him. ‘Just like old times,’ he murmured. ‘How many times have you had her already?’

He plucked at her nipples, caressing her breasts, and groaning at the small moan she tried to muffle.

‘I haven't,’ Nyx muttered, ‘and I won't until she knows me properly… and herself.’

Rye looked him in the eye. ‘She may not want you then … if past events are anything to go by.’

Nyx shrugged. ‘I can wait as long as I need to.’

‘You're a better man than I,’ Rye replied, trailing his hands down and touching her between her thighs. She raised on her toes with a gasp.

‘Let's take her out of the pool,’ he suggested, leaving her and ascending the steps.

He grabbed some blankets from a folded pile and lay them out on the floor as Nyx drew Elle from the water. She dug in her heels, looking from one to the other in apprehension.

Rye came to stand in front of her. ‘Remember,’ he said, ‘if you ask, we will stop and if you don’t trust that we will, you CAN stop us, Elle. You proved that with Eruk.’

Elle

She looked backat Nyx uncertainly. How could she still be drawn to Rye after what he had said and done before? She was the worst kind of fool and was probably about to be burned for it a second time in practically as many days, but what he said was true. She'd killed Eruk and even though they were sure they could not die, the power that was somewhere inside her could hurt them. She could count on it, on herself.

She felt Nyx’s hands caress her arms, down her shoulders and then he took hold of her hips and pulled her back against him.

‘The things we used to do with you,’ he breathed, ‘and now you're practically a novice.’

‘I like it,’ Rye said, watching her. ‘There’s something different about her now. This uncertainty and innocence is endearing.’

‘Sheis right here,’ Elle said, her voice like steel, and he looked up in surprise, giving her a slow smile.

‘So she is. Will she enjoy what I have planned?’ he asked, still grinning as he stepped closer. His hands found the cleft between her thighs, and he caressed her gently.

‘Will she open for me?’ he asked.

She stepped her legs very slightly further apart and he slipped his hand between her folds, his calloused fingers drawing a whimpered cry from her lips. He eased one inside of her and she gasped and would have moved away except that Nyx’s grip on her tightened.

‘You're not going anywhere,’ he growled in her ear, his hands grazing up her sides and making the flesh pucker.

‘Lay her down,’ Rye said, taking his finger away.

Nyx gave her a small smack on her arse. ‘Do as you're told,’ he said.

Her eyes widened at the both of them, but she found herself walking to the blankets that had been spread out. She lay on her back.

Her heart was a veritable hum in her chest and her gaze kept swinging from one to the other. Nyx stood over her looking amused while Rye knelt before her and opened her knees.

He parted her folds, pulling her wide and gazing in his fill at the pink flesh within. He showed her one thick finger and, eyes smoldering, put a second next to it.
