‘You change in the fucking Camp?’ Rye hissed in a hard whisper.
‘Our mate needed comfort,’ he said to them.
‘What's wrong, Elle?’ Nyx asked, coming forward.
‘I—’
She looked up at the Beast and he nodded encouragingly.
‘I'm with child,’ she said. ‘I didn't know until this afternoon, but I’ve been feeling ill and Maeve …’
Nyx frowned. ‘But you haven’t been with us long. Isn’t it typical to feel illness after a few weeks in human females?’
She nodded. ‘Maeve said the same, which would mean—’
‘It’s not mine, nor Thorne’s,’ Rye finished for her.
The men looked at each other grimly and Nyx put a hand on her shoulder.
‘We’re with you, Elle,’ he said. ‘It doesn't matter what happened before. You’re ours and so is the babe … if you want us.’
‘Aye,’ Rye nodded.

Thorne
Thorne looked aroundand cursed aloud. ‘How long?’ he asked.
‘Only moments,’ Elle answered him.
‘Has she told you about the babe she harbors?’
Elle’s eyes narrowed at him.
‘Yes,’ she spat.
His jaw tightened. He was messing all of this up, he thought as he ran a hand through his hair. He had no business being anywhere near Elle.
Rye went to her. ‘Anything you wish for, you need only ask. We are with you, Elle. We aren’t leaving you and you aren’t leaving us, not until we’ve dealt with Ceres and you and the babe are safe. Then you can decide if you wish to leave us.’
Elle nodded, looking relieved and Thorne felt her gaze lingering on him for a moment. She looked like she was going to say something to him, but then she closed her mouth and turned away.
‘I know it's not late,’ she said, ‘but I'm so tired.’
‘Sleep,’ Nyx said. ‘We’ll be here.’
Thorne rubbed his jaw again as she retreated back to the bed with a yawn.
He turned to the others and beckoned them to the other side of the tent.
‘She struck me just now,’ he said.
‘Good,’ Nyx said.
Thorne rolled his eyes. ‘I mean hard enough to knock me off my feet.’
Rye looked back at the bed where Elle was already asleep. ‘Sheisgetting stronger. She must already be tapping into the power of the Light Realm without knowing it.’
