With each descending movement, she sucked more of him into her wet quim. She could feel her insides clenching around him each time she took more of him inside. To feel him thicken inside of her, her pleasure was bursting. When she looked down at his face, her pleasure keened again. “Reggie,” she moaned, taking another inch of him.

“God, you’re so big. You’re filling me up.” She bit her bottom lip and ran her hands up into his hair. Leaning down, she whispered in his ear, “I want you and your giant cock fully inside of me.” She licked his neck. “Now.”

He thrust up into her. Their groans tangling with each other.

“Ride me, Detta.”

She pushed herself back up and rubbed her nub against his pelvic bone. She wanted her pleasure, but more than anything, she wanted to be his everything in this moment. She could feel his solid shaft inside of her, and she pushed up to rub his cock with her quim. Not letting him go, she slid back down.

His groan shook her to her core.

She moved up slightly on her knees, clenching him from within, tugging him, as she moved back and forth. It lasted only a few strides until he was arching up into her, meeting her and pulling away to emphasize the motion.

This was what she wanted to be for him. Have him forget everything but her, for all she could see was him. All she wanted was him.

She could feel him swelling, knew he was going to come. She clung to him and pressed harder, faster for two more strokes. And just before he exploded inside of her, she cried out his name. Not expecting herself to feel so fulfilled, she shuddered but hung on waiting for his release.

His loud groan filled her ears as his seed poured into her.

Chapter 14

THE NEXT MORNING, REGGIE wanted to lounge in bed until noon, after a short jaunt over to check on his father, of course. But life had other duties for him. Not that he knew what those were yet.

While he did his morning ablutions, His thoughts turned to Bernadette. After last night, he was wrestling again with the decision of whether or not to share his feelings. Whether or not to ask her if there was a future for them together. Would she consider him to fill the role of husband? With everything to lose, the stakes were high, but with the imminent awareness of how short life was, Reggie was beginning to lean toward taking the risk. If he asked her, and she rejected him, the consequences would be devastating.

He splashed more water on his face. He was a man though, and if he wanted her to see him as one, he needed to believe it.He needed to act like it. Which meant he had to be willing to make hard decisions. If she rejected him, his heart might crack. It might split open in two. But a heart could heal. He was young enough to believe that. He was pretty sure he had seen it among his friends as well. When Lady Agatha had her cap set on Davin, and Davin had ended up with Reggie’s sister, Lady Agatha took it well. From what he had seen.

If Bernadette said no, he resolved that he would get over it. Like Lady Agatha. He shook his head, never thinking he would model anything after her.

But really, that was the only course of action that could restore his own happiness again. Still, the thought of her rejection was a punch to his solar plexus. And the punch packed a lingering weight. Heavy elephant on his chest or not, he was going to tell her how he felt. He just needed to find time alone with her. It made for a very good reason to take her to see Kat and Quinn himself. On a road trip, they would have time alone to talk. Among other things.

When the time was right, he would tell her. Yes, when the time was right…it wasn’t just an axiom. It certainly wasn’t an excuse. It was just…right.

After breakfast, having not yet welcomed the right time, there was a knock on the door, and the butler notified Reggie that a solicitor was waiting for him in the drawing room. There was no reason for the family solicitor to be seeking Reggie out yet. If they were prematurely advising him of earldom duties, he was about to tear a piece out of them. His father was doing fine. Mother had even said she saw him flicker his eyes open a few times.

Reggie marched into the drawing room expecting to dismiss the caller, but the caller was a determined fellow.

“I’m sure this can wait until my father is up and about again.”

“It could if the business I had was with the earl.”

“What business could you possibly have with me?” Reggie racked his brain, wondering if he had pissed someone off.

“You are Lord Reginald Bainsbury son of Lady Helen Nothesay, Countess of Winchester?”

“Yes. What does this have to do with my mother?”

“As you know, your mother has Scottish roots.”

Evidently Reggie had forgotten that. With so much time spent on his father’s genealogy, his mother’s Scottish ancestry hadn’t been front of mind in a long time.

“As you say it, I do recall somewhere out on one of her branches there is a Scottish limb.”

“Quite,” the solicitor shuffled papers. “On that limb rests a dukedom. Northfore to be precise. It’s yours.”

Well, that was nice to know. His family was somehow attached to a dukedom. That could come in handy…sometime. He wasn’t sure why the solicitor had come all this way to share such bathetic news. Nothing like such a bathetic moment to start the day.

“Thanks for letting me know,” Reggie stood to dismiss the man.
