“I want you, Quinn. Now. Forever.”

“You’re mine. I would have it no other way.” His hands were on either side of her hips now with a grip like iron. “Ride me.” Tightening around her. Tightening within her. Ready for his entrance. She held onto anything resembling sanity, and at that moment his shoulders were the closest thing to mental stability she could find.

His hands lifted her slightly, and he guided her atop him. Manhood met womanhood. As one. Forever one. He entered her, and she received him. Embraced him. Clasped herself around him. As he tugged in and out of her, she could feel his swelling. He filled her completely. Touching her in her depth. Her soul.

He knew her entirely and loved her. And she knew him. There was nothing more beautiful. She bounced slowly on top of him, sensing her power. Sensing her ability to give and take the ultimate pleasure.

Desire, pooled within her, was rising, circling,

Truly, there was nothing more beautiful.

Except the cry of release.

It came on in a flash. She screamed his name. He growled and thrust into her. She collapsed against him, his arms holding her tight.

For as close as they had been, still were, it was his arms around her, his chin resting at her temple, that brought them the closest.

THERE WAS NO PLACE Quinn would rather be than inside Kat, holding her, her holding him, possessing her, and being possessed by her.

These moments after her utter collapse, he could still feel shudders pulsating around him. The sensations shook his entire being.

After the last pulse, he slowly withdrew himself from her. Taking his handkerchief, he wiped between her thighs, and then kissed her temple.

They sat in a comfortable embrace for several more minutes until the carriage finally stopped.

The driver opened the door and said, “We’re back in Scotland now. Gretna Green to be precise. This is where you want to be. All the doe-eyed English couples eloping come here. There’s a blacksmith who will do the honors just ahead.”

Quinn placed Kat’s hand on his arm, and together they walked over to the blacksmith. It was a strange feeling to walk into this place. After having been a fake married couple for so long everywhere else, this was the first place they would walk into without having to play that act, yet upon leaving it, their status would be sealed as together. Forever.

This was what he wanted. He knew it without a doubt.

He knew it, but the only parts he remembered from the ceremony and getting married were the shared vows they gave each other at the end. After the rings. After the pronouncement. As they sat in the carriage, husband and wife.

“From now on, my wife, we’ll plan, or not plan, all of our adventures. But at least we’ll always do them together.” Quinn took Kat’s hand in his. “You are a treasure. You know your mind. And you go for it. You don’t allow anything to get in your way. You speak your mind. You are brave. And you are clever because you accept the consequences of your actions, even when your plans fail.”

“My plans don’t fail. We found the answers I was looking for. And some. Oh, and remember the stream?”

He nodded, predicting her trap. “Planned?”

“Yes. Perfectly planned. And a success. Just as all my plans are.”

“Then what need do you have of me?” Quinn mocked.

“I don’t need you.”

He scoffed.

“I don’t. I don’t need you. I want you. I don’t care what fate says. How it pulls or pushes. I choose to be with you. Perhaps I can credit fate with planting the seed, but I choose to grow my love for you.”

“We will grow our love together.”

“Yes, we shall. That among other things.” She took his hand in hers. “Back to one of our new homes. Apparently we have a dukedom to run.”

“We?”

“Ha! As if you didn’t know that when you ‘asked’ me to be your wife that I would be running at least fifty-one percent of things.”
