I shushed her softly. “We’re going straight to your nest. Deep breaths for me.”

“Is it supposed to be this strong?” Velda asked.

“I’ve never dealt with an omega in heat before,” I confessed. “From what I’ve gleaned in talking to ones over the years, their conscious brains basically shut down until their bodies produce enough hormones to restart it all, and the only way they produce that is being cared for.”

“And fucked,” Velda added with a grin.

“Obviously. That’s part of the being cared for.”

The elevator ride down was the longest of my life.

“We’re on rotation,” Caden explained. “Choose your order and stick to it.”

I shook my head. If there was anything, we would probably find that out when we needed it. “How are you so calm right now?”

Someone has to be.You and Seth are getting the full potency of the bond, and Kendrick is about a minute off from a nervous breakdown.

I spared a glance for the stag, who was staring at Logan, a mix of fear and awe on his face.

Logan was still deeply afraid in the bond, trying to claw her way back to consciousness and control but unable to do so.
