“Some dumb nigga trying to break in.”

Chevy eyed him before looking at me. “Hold that thought for a second, Zu. Let me holla at you,” Chevy said to me. “Foe watch this nigga.”

The laugh that left Foe’s gut said he was about to torture the nigga while Chevy and I went to talk. As soon as we stepped outside the door, the man’s screams became loud. Chevy glanced at the door, “This nigga,” he grumbled as he opened the door to Foe skinning the nigga. “Foe, we’re not at the Zoo, ease up some.”

He turned to me. “I think Dio was into something much bigger than we think. I got a feeling we’re going to have a big problem.”

I shook my head because I could only imagine what it was that Chevy had found out. I was so mad I didn’t know who to be mad at. This is where I began blaming myself yet again. I wanted to be mad at my family, Dio, and his newfound friends, but I could only be mad at myself. “Talk to me.”

“It’s this weird lady back at the hospital. She’s asking questions. I don’t know, but something about her ain’t right. Rich, bitch. Was Dio fucking with anyone out here, a girl?”

I dropped my head in my hands because I felt ashamed. “I don’t know,” I mumbled.

“Zu, I need you to put that guilt shit away for a second. Right now, this is about fighting for Dio. The shit is eating away at all of us because we all played a part in Dio’s life. If he makes it out of this, take this shit as a lesson,” he paused. He then flicked his nose as he continued. “You know that girl who’s staying with me?”

I glared at him curiously, “The homeless girl you took in?”

“Yeah. Well, she’s Dio’s friend and she—”

My eyes grew. “Why the fuck you ain’t say that from jump!”

“Zu, nigga pipe the fuck down. I know as much information as you, but I can ask her what she knows, and maybe she can give us more direction. Dio fucked up, he did but he also did something right and that was helping her. My little nigga saved a shorty so let’s do what we got to do to get him home.”

Knowing my brother saved someone but became a sacrifice in return made my heart tender. My lips began to tremble, my hand shook, and tears fell. “Dionysus,” I sobbed.

“Fuck! Come on, Zeus, you’re no good to us if you can’t keep it together. I will call her and ask. You said her name was written on the wall. Samara, that’s the girl back in Toussaint. Let’s have that driver nigga take us to her crib. That nigga in there, I bet his name was on that wall too.”

I wiped the tears. “He said his name is Horace.”

“Nah that nigga lying, but were about to find out right the fuck now.”

Click! Click!

Chevy pulled his gun from his back and rushed back inside. “Nigga! What’s your name? You not leaving this muhfucka until you tell me, and I’m not that nigga nor am I that nigga,” Chevy said pointing to Foe and me.

The man hung there, barely alive. His swollen eyes raised to mine. “He tried,” he paused as the blood poured from his mouth. “He tried to rob me,” he gasped. “The,” he paused again. “The cartel. He fucked over the cartel.”

Dio was dealing with the cartel.Chevy and I looked at each other. We knew that if this were true, our problems would be much bigger than we could have imagined.

“Your name? Give me something or I’m blowing the other side of your cheek open.”

“My family,” he cried.

I snatched the gun from Chevy and lost it.

Bloaw! Bloaw! Bloaw!

I blew three holes in his ass and watched his body buck. How could he even utter a word about his family when my only family was hanging on for dear fucking life. “Fuck you bitch nigga!” I gritted.

Chevy turned to me. “Let me call Samara.”

Foe heckled. “Well damn Zu! I see you. That nigga wasn’t going to give you his name anyway. If I had to guess. I would say this nigga was Boogie.” He finished as he crossed his name out on the wall.

“Let us go!” Raquel yelled.

I circled her as her eyes followed me. Days had passed, and I had been waiting for Horace to show his face. He had fucked up an entire plan and I wasn’t going to let up until I found him. I was beginning to believe he had somehow called on Dio’s people and built an alliance to keep him safe.

“Where would your husband be hiding?” I asked her.
