“And you are going to listen why?”

“I don’t know. What ifhefound another woman? What if he changed his mind and does love me or he does love but just doesn’t want to be with me? I don’t think I can handle it.” Mac burst out laughing, and I frowned at her.

“Girlfriend, you sound like a crazy person. That man loves you. It shows in his eyes, Bailey.”

“What if he doesn’t love me enough?”

“What is enough?” Mac smiled at me.

“See? He makes me crazy and mad. He makes me happy and then does something I would like to kill him for.”

“That, Bailey, sounds like enough love.”

Mac and I finished theday, and I had officiallyworkedas an RN for one week. I went home, showered, and shoved a few thingsintoa bag. I was going to Black Hawk and sit on Lance’s porch until he came home.

I had discussed everything with mymomand got almost the same responses as I’d gotten from Mac.

The road to turn into Black Hawk came intoview, and when I pulled up to thegate,a younger man stood there.OneI had never met.

“What can I do for you, ma’am?”

“I’m here to see Lance. I mean Devil. I’m his umm...girlfriend.”

“What’s your name?”

“Bailey Tolson.” The man looked down at the clipboard in his hand, then looked at me.

“Sorry, can’t let you in. You aren’t listed as an automatic entry, Ms. Tolson.”

I felt my temper start to rise as the man started to walk off.

“Can you call someone? Sami, Carly, one of the others?”

“I’ll call Devil if you can wait?”

“He is back?”

The man pulled out his cell and started scrolling.

“Yes, Devil, the girl, Jag, and Ghost pulled in about thirty minutes ago.” When the man didn’t look up, I threw the car in drive and went right through the opened gate. I figured they could haul my ass off later.

The Prospect on the gate had his phone to his ear so I was sure someone would know I was coming.

When I reached Lance’s house, his dad stepped out on the porch. By the time the man stepped down to open my door, I was out of the car and moving toward him.

“Hey, Bailey. Good to see you. Lance hadn’t had a chance to text you—”

“I just bet he hasn’t.” I interrupted Preacher and moved around him, stomped up the few steps, and entered Lance’s house. I slammed the door shut on Preacher’s “Wait.”

“Devil and the girl. Yeah, he wanted to talk in person. What a big old crock of shit. Lance!” I mumbled the beginning, then yelled out his name. I heard footsteps upstairs, then saw him as he started down. He smiled atme, and I wanted to rip his lips right off him.

“Can you keep it down? Neely was exhausted from thetrip, and she’s asleep.”

“Oh, let’s not wake a tired Neely, she needs her sleep. I suppose you were laying down with Neely?”

“Yeah. What is your problem, Bay? Sorry, I didn’t text or call right when I pulled in, but I had to get Neely to lay down. I was going to text after shefellasleep, but Vic called up and said you drove through the gate.”

“Well, of course,Vic did. I wasn’t on the entry list!”
