“First coffee, then food.”

“I agree, and I’ll sweeten the deal. You make coffee, and I’ll throw breakfast together.”

“You cook?”

“Yes, I do. And I’m damn good at it. Though with it only being me, I don’t much,” I answered just as we reached the kitchen.

“Well, by all means, amaze me,” Gabriella said, pinched my butt, and headed for the coffee pot.

“Can I help?” Sawyer asked.

“Sure thing. Let’s get busy and show your mom what we can do.”

Gabriella

––––––––

The three of us spentmost of the day together, and it had been the best day since Sawyer and I had moved to Shades Valley. It felt almost like we were a family.

We ate breakfast, then while Sawyer and I cleaned up. Max ran home to shower and put on clean clothes. Hence the almost like a family part.

When it came time for me to go to the hospital to circumcise Lock, Key, and Archer, I left Max and Sawyer on the couch watching cartoons.

Once I reached the hospital and had finished with the circumcisions, I made my way to Luna and Sami’s room. I wanted to let them know all went well and the babies would be brought back to them in a few. I’ll admit my stomach was filled with butterflies about facing the two women and possibly their men, too. So much had happened since I left their room, hurt and embarrassed.

When I reached the door to their room, I hesitated, took a deep breath, then pushed the door open and walked in.

“Wasn’t sure we’d see you today,” Luna said no sooner than I entered the room.

Sami’s eyes shot briefly to Luna, then they focused on me. “Did the boys do alright?” she asked while her eyes ran over me.

“Well, everything went as it was supposed to. They’ll be brought to you in a little bit. How are you both doing? Ready to get out of here and take your babies home?”

“God, yes,” Luna expressed.

“Mac’s releasing us in the morning,” Sami supplied.

“Alright, the niceties are over, and we don’t know how long it will be before someone stops by, so get on with what happened after you left yesterday,” Luna demanded.

“Luna!” Sami snapped.

“What? You want to know as much as I do. You’re just too sweet to come out and ask,” Luna snapped back. When Sami stuck out her tongue, I chuckled. That was why I liked these women. They held nothing back—at least not in front of the ones they deemed friends. I had learned that over the months of knowing them. It also caused a lump to form in my throat because they had taken me in their fold and considered me a friend.

“You could have used a little more couth,” Sami said and shook her head.

“Oh, please. That is a waste of energy. You can look at our friend and see Flirt wasted no time when he left here. The man took care of his business,” Luna said, then turned her head toward me. “Are you going to deny it?”

I thought about lying just to ruffle Luna’s feathers for a minute, but I couldn’t do it. I knew they felt horrible on my behalf yesterday. “I was hurt when I walked out yesterday. I felt humiliated...” I began and told them what happened from the time I left their room to Chad catching me as I was leaving the hospital. Max’s dad, the drive home... Letting it all out felt quite therapeutic. I had skipped over the bedroom activity and jumped to the part where Sawyer found Max in my bed that morning. “We still have a few things to work out, but we are going to give it a try.”

“Yeah, okay, that is all great. Glad you forgave him. But now, since all this is out in the open, we want to know how dominant Flirt actually is?” Luna pointedly asked.

“Oh my God, I don’t know who is nosier, you or Carly,” Sami chided.

“Controlling enough to make your toes curl, your skin heat, and your insides burn. And you will gladly do anything he wants to have those flames,” I admitted.

“Sweet Jesus, I’ll never be able to look him in the eyes again.”

“Look who in the eyes, baby?” Ghost asked as he walked in. The way the three of us jerked our heads in his direction, I was surprised no cracking sounds were heard.
