“Brother, pissed isn’t going to come close. Hell, she’s going to seem tame compared to the other women.” I frowned at Coast. “Oh, don’t get that look. The women really like her, and they will be thrilled if Brie and Sawyer become officially part of the Black Hawk family... Eventually. Maybe after they take a few layers of skin off you.”
I shook my head and ran my hand across the back of my neck. “I might have miscalculated this situation.”
“Ya think,” Coast answered, then snickered. “Got any of those kink toys on you? Flogger, whip, crop, handcuffs, anything? ‘Cause, it could be a good time to pull something out. This crowd might need to be restrained,” he advised and slapped my shoulder.
“You’re a real asshole,” I said under my breath and turned my head to the suddenly quiet room. Which was shocking in itself when I considered how many people were packed into the room. But what had my full attention was the dark brown eyes staring at me with flames shooting out of them.
Yeah, I let the secrecy go on too long. And the sick part, I was actually turned on by the fire in her eyes and the madness radiating from her.
“Hey, Flirt. Get a look at the next generation,” Ghost said, and my lips twitched when Luna slapped his arm and told him hush.
“Don’t forget there are small ears in the room,” Devil said, his voice laced with humor.
“Be quiet, Lance,” Bailey whispered, though in the quietness everyone heard.
Ignoring Gabriella’s death glare, I walked to the area between the two beds, stopped beside Sami’s bed, and leaned down and kissed the top of her head. Then I moved to Luna’s bed and did the same.
I looked between the two women and said, “You both look beautiful. No one would ever guess you two just delivered babies.” Then I turned to face the music. “Gabriella.”
Chapter Fourteen
Gabriella
––––––––
Acouple of miles fromWhispering Nights, River called and informed me Sami and Luna went into labor. After pulling over, I texted Max to cancel our playtime. Which I would admit I’d gotten a tiny bit upset when he answered back with a text that read as if he wasn’t the least disappointed in the cancellation. I hadn’t seen the man since before Christmas. It didn’t matter that he had no clue I was going to confess to falling for him. Or that I wanted more with him than just being his submissive and hooking up at a kink club. He still could have added that he missed me to the text.
I turned my vehicle around and headed back to Shades Valley, working to keep my focus on the road instead of obsessing over how he worded a text.
It was the man’s fault. Max Browning made me feel things I had long since given up on experiencing again. If I were honest with myself, I would have admitted what I’d experienced with him to date. It was far beyond anything I could’ve imagined. And that was yet another reason to push all thoughts of the man out of my head. However, since the moment I had met him, he was never far from my thoughts.
I reached town, stopped at my place, and changed clothes. No way, I planned to show up at the hospital in a leather micro-mini skirt, a top that revealed an abundance of cleavage, and screamed ‘look at my breasts.’ Not to mention the leather ankle boots with four-inch spiked heels that finished off my outfit. I had been so damn excited to see him that I had forgotten to throw my bag with spare clothes and an extra pair of comfortable shoes in my car.
I changed into a sweater, jeans, and more comfortable boots at the house, then went next door to check on my daughter, Sawyer. Mrs. Grissom, who lived next door, was watching her. Before I was able to leave, it had taken the promise of as soon as the babies were released from the hospital and home, I would take her to visit them. That and Mrs. G’s mention to Sawyer about helping her bake cookies.
The drive to the local hospital hadn’t taken long. Since I held privileges at the hospital, I pulled into an open spot in a section of the lot reserved for doctors. Once inside, I made my way through the hospital to the maternity ward nurses’ station to check on Sami’s and Luna’s progress. When the nurse gave me a room number and told me the babies had already arrived, I was a little shocked. Not only about how fast the babies had made their appearance, but how long it had taken me to drive back to town, change clothes, check in on Sawyer and Mrs. G, and then make it to the hospital.
