This was all fucking bullshit. The littlewoman needs a damn escort.I got to Haven on my own, not like Icouldn’t find my way back to Shades Valley. Men!

I got up and packed my saddlebags, then wentto sit down with a cup of coffee just as the front door opened andin walked Reed, Moose, and Crank. I said good morning as theygrunted and reached for the coffee pot.

“Late night, boys?”

“How can you be chirper? You drank with us,”Reed griped and took a big gulp of coffee.

“Probably because she went to bed while youdumbasses had me drop you off at the clubhouse. Who did you get todrop you off since your bikes were left here?”

“Hawk, now we owe him. That fucker will waituntil he needs some shit work done and then he will call it in.”Moose flopped in the chair beside me. “Sugar, you sure you gotta goback today.” I laughed and he grabbed his head.

“Yeah, got a few things I need to deal with.”He nodded and then closed his eyes as he took a drink of hiscoffee.

“Fine, it won’t take long for the fresh airto clear my head.”

That was when I clued in to why they were atWild Bill’s so early, it wasn’t just to pick up their bikes.

Wild Bill frowned at Moose and then told methat he and the others were riding halfway with me. Okay thatwasn’t so bad, then he added that the Black Hawk guys would meet usthere and ride in with me the rest of the way. I may or may nothave called them every name in the book.

“You done?” Wild Bill asked and I glared backat him. “Still going with you so everyone get their shit togetherand let’s hit the road. I don’t want to be late to the meet upspot.”

Well, that was what got me to this point.Riding down the road in the middle of the four men as if I was apiece of china that would break if a bug hit me. Hell, they wereriding tucked so close that I had to look up at the sky just tomake sure we actually were outside and riding down the road.

Yes, I may be exaggerating some, but really,if a vehicle got too close to me, they moved in closer. Not that Ithought bitching would make them stop. I know they never would butI couldn’t let them have their way too easily.

Reed signaled to the sign on the right sideof the road before we passed it. It was our exit I presumed becauseright before we reached the turn, the men flicked their blinkerson.

We pulled right up to the pumps at Leonard’sGas and Go. I saw the six bikers sitting off to the side when wepulled in. As we stopped they headed toward us. I placed the pumpin my tank and out of the corner of my eye watched Crusher as hislong legs ate up the ground like he was on a mission, Speed not farbehind him. Great, the gang was all here.

Speed greeted the Haven men and then came tostand in front of me. He pulled the sunglasses off and in thatsecond when those intense blue eyes focused on me, I understood whySami folded so easily around him. His square jaw and highcheekbones, the face framed with black hair was an intimidatingpicture. His lips were perched and, combined with his stare, mademe wonder what he saw and thought. Everything around us went quiet, the only sound was the clicking of the pumps as the tanks filled. Then the breath was knocked out of me and I found my face buried ina huge chest and incased in two huge arms.

“Don’t ever run without talking to me. Iunderstand it was a shock, I had the same reaction but damn, doesit really matter how we found out. You and I share blood and wehave fucking lost enough time because our mother chose not to tellus. That shit is on her and I don’t plan to waste anymore on whyshe would do it and neither should you. We’re going to get to knoweach other with no regrets on time lost. Understand?” Speed said, then stepped back releasing me.

I looked up at him, his expression the sameas before until he smiled at me, “I see now why Sami can’t so no toyou.”

Speed’s expression changed to a smirk,“You’ll get used to it. We’re family, doesn’t matter how we got tobe, we just are. You’ll figure out soon enough that if I want it, Iusually get it, little sis,” he said with not an ounce of shame inhis voice.

“Really, little sis? I just find out we arerelated and you decide to start our relationship out but insultingmy size?” I cocked my eyebrow at him.

“Did we not just cover that I get my way?” hesaid and his grin grew bigger.

“You do know we are going to be screwed in afew years, right?” I watched his eyebrows draw together at mywords.

“What makes you think that?” he asked.

“Ally already shares your looks, if she gainsyour attitude—no one will be safe.” I couldn’t help it, Ilaughed.

“Fuck, when were we safe before?” Reed saidand the silence of the moment was broken. Well, until Crusher movedin behind me.

“Taking off by yourself was an asinine move. With the shit that went on at Haven, your ass should have knownbetter.” I could physically feel his eyes burning into my back. Ihung the pump back in its slot and capped my tank before I turnedto face him. When I did, I damn near smacked right into his chest,he was so close. A do-rag covered his head with a small amount ofhis brown hair curled up over the edge and his eyes were hidden bythe sunglasses he wore. He crossed his arms over his chest andlooked down at me. I made several decisions while at Haven and himacting like a dick was making me reevaluate one.

What the hell, every time this man opened hismouth it brought the worst out of me, whether he was right or not. This time was no different so, as if I had no control over myself,I jabbed my finger in his chest, “Do you think because I have blondhair that I’m clueless. That I don’t know what went on at Haven? Are you assuming that I can’t take care of myself? I missed thememo where you get to tell me what the fuck to do. So why don’t yougo fuc...” Before I could finish I was shoved to the ground, thenpopping sounds filled the air, tires squealed, and I felt a whitehot burning in my thigh. The commotion around me picked up, bikeswere started and the smell of burning rubber laced the air and Icould only listen, though I had words in my mind, I couldn’t pushthem out my mouth, the pain was excruciating. I could literallyfeel my blood pumping through my body.

“Carly! And get away from the fucking gaspumps,” was screamed from several and then a pair of arms grabbedme up and felt as the person ran while whispering to me, “Hang on,baby, I got you. I got you.” Then more loudly, “Devil, need youhere, brother!” Crusher, it was Crusher who held me, whispered tome as I shivered, my last thought before blackness took me was whenhad it turned cold.

Crusher

“What the fuck is taking so long?” I askedthe nurse behind the desk. I wished we would have been at home atour hospital but there’d been no time. Carly had been transportedto the closest hospital from the gas station we were at.
