“If this,” he thrust inside me, “is all it takes to make you agreeable. Then I’m going to be spoiled getting my way so often,” he said, then began to move, which left me thinking it would be a win-win.

Chapter Twenty

Jag

Lifting Poppy’s butt, I slid the diaper under before taking off the soiled one. Learned that lesson the hard way when I changed her on my bed. Not only did I change her, but I also had to change my sheets. Fastening the tabs, then working the little pants up her chubby legs, I looked around the at the men cleaning the yard, arranging tables, putting out decorations. No one who saw it would think this was part of an MC. And if this was the yard, I wasn’t sure I wanted to see inside.

I wouldn’t complain because by the end of tomorrow River would be mine. Once the women heard that she had accepted my proposal, and we wanted to get married in the clubhouse, they went into action. On a good note, they’d been able to throw it together in two weeks’ time.

“How is it that you are the one getting married, but we are putting up the decorations?” I sat Poppy in her playpen that I’d set up in the shade, then looked over at Flirt who stepped down off the ladder where he’d been hanging tiny lights.

“You act like I haven’t been helping. I stopped to change Poppy’s diaper. You want to do it next time, and I’ll keep working?” I asked, tossed the dirty diaper in the big trash can, then picked up another string of lights off the picnic table.

“Uh, let me think about that for a minute... No,” Flirt said, moved the ladder, and reached for the lights I held out.

“Brother, if you plan on having kids, you will,” Ghost said as he, Coast, and a few of our brothers carried the wood planks for the makeshift dance floor.

“Not me if I can help it. I’ll bath them, dress them, feed them, but no diaper duty,” Devil said as he and Speed walked up with stacks of chairs.

“If I recall, didn’t you try to get out of that with Neely?” I asked, then laughed when Devil flipped me off.

“Hey, she wasn’t in diapers, and in my defense, I haven’t been around small kids. Bailey’s gotten me over that, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to do the whole diaper thing,” Devil said, and I shook my head and chuckled.

“Oh you will do the diaperthing,or this will be the only child you get,” Bailey said, pointing to her stomach as she stood in the doorway of the clubhouse.

The look on Devil’s face, and Speed’s whispered “busted,” had us all laughing.

“Ah, baby, you know I’ve got a weak stomach,” Devil said as he lifted his stack of chairs and walked toward Bailey.

“Really, you are going to use that? You were a medic for God’s sake.” Bailey stepped out and held the door open for Devil and Speed to carry the chairs inside. Devil stopped, leaned in, and planted a kiss on her lips before he went through the door. “You’re still changing diapers,” Bailey said and followed Speed after he stepped inside the clubhouse with his load of chairs.

I smiled when I looked over at Poppy playing with her toys and watching the activity going on in the yard around her. Every time I looked at her, it was hard to believe I’d only known about her a short time. And now, I couldn’t imagine my life without her in it.

“You’re a lucky bastard, Jag,” Coast said as he stepped beside me.

“No argument out of me there. Remember when we talked about coming home after we got out of the service?” He nodded, and I continued. “I said something about home and finding the right woman, but, brother, I really didn’t expect it to happen.”
