I moved into positionandas I stepped toward him, he never turned. His response was myacknowledgmentthat he knew Iwasthere.
“Wouldn’t do that if I was you. They’regoing to want to hear what I have to say, and by my calculations, this place will be swarming with uniforms of all kinds in under ten.”
Creed waved me off, but never took his eyes off Sledge.
“What the fuck, Sledge? You piece of shit traitor. You sold out your club for money. You—” Creed was yelling as he stepped toward the man.
“You don’t know shit! Listen to me. I’m the least of your fucking problems!”
Creed stopped his advance.
“Fucking talk and then I’ll decide if you live or not.” Sledge chuckled at Creed’s words.
“That won’t be left to you, Creed.”
“Fuck this shit,” Maxi said and started to move.
‘Stop, Maxi,” Creed said, and Maxi stopped next to him. “Sledge, you got three minutes, so get to talking.”
“Don’t doubt her reach or her level of crazy. Ithaseaten at that bitch. We are nothing but her puppets. I tried to protect everyone and look where I am standing. I did what she wanted because my sister’s kids were being followed. She told me wouldn’t it be a shame if my brother in the military had an accident or Abi met her match in the ring. I raised them, Creed. They are my fucking blood, I couldn’t chance she wouldn’t follow through. I thought I was the only one she wasworking, but then I noticed Raven was drinking more than normal, then he moved to drugs. She got to him and used his loyalty to you against him along with his associationwithus. He never stood a damn chance. You have no idea the way she fucked with his head, man, none. I used the Black Hearts to force my club out of town, I needed them gone if I was going to go against her. However, Raven and I weren’t the only ones. She got wind of me trying to get Raven clean and contacted Heaven and Gage to tell them with their help, she would leave Raven alone, but if they didn’t help her get me, not only would she hurt Raven, Heaven’s sister would be taken and sold, again.
“By the time I uncovered that plot, Heaven and Gage had comeback, and her flunky had killed them before he was taken out. Their bodies were placed in those tunnels with the other dead. Tell Raven I’m sorry. I failed him and everyone in my club. Don’t play her game, Creed, you can’t win that way. I know you’re wondering how I was able to stay one step in front of you. It was her. I knew Black Hawk would help you because she sent a man to see if Jas was there. When I found out he went without telling me, I killed him when he got back. The bitch knew Ghost and Moon grew up together before the two of them even knew where each other was.” As Sledge continued, I heard sirens in the distance.
The Ops had explained the shit that had plagued them, but I hadn’t understood the depth of it all until now.
“Come with us. Explain it all. Will call the others and talk with them,” Creedsaid.
“Go, Creed. I’m a dead manany wayyou look at it. Help Raven heal. If you can find my family, tellthem I tried my best for them. But you need to leave now. I’ll buy you some time to get as far away as possible.” Sledge pointed toward the area where most of us had entered, “Go, I got this. It’s the least I can do. But promise me that you’ll stop that crazy bitch!”
“We’ll get her. But don’t go out like this,” Creed tried one more time before the sound of the sirens grew louder.
“No, go. Now!” Sledge yelled.
“Dammit, bug out!” Creedyelled.
“Move it,” Crusher yelled, and I glanced briefly at the man as I passed him before picking up the pace.
We wereata full run as the first cop car turned down the row. We knew we made it when we heard the squeal of their tires as the cars were brought to a stop. They would be too focused on the crumbled building and Sledge before they regrouped and searched the surrounding area. As we ran I heard a “Don’t move!” and the small tremble of the ground followed with the sound ofmetalhitting the ground. No one stopped or faltered in our steps. We knew what Sledge had done. He released the cable that held the containers in the air.
Fuck, what a way to take your ass out.
Once we made it to our bikes, it didn’t take us long toclearthe gate. Easy and Speed stopped and secured it back while the rest us separated and took different routes back to the compound.
When we pulled through the gates, the sun was cresting, and the day showed signs it was going to be sunny. But our moods as we parked and dismounted our bikes was far from cheerful.

I opened the door and looked around the room while I pulled Brax inside with me. The party had been going for hours. Creed had made all the calls they needed to with the information Sledgehad giventhem. Shady’s mother was going to be difficult. The woman had planned so much against the club, it was hard to imagine her going down easy.
When the men made it back, and Brax dismounted, I breathed a sigh of relief. That morninghe’d woken me up just like he said and then left me warm and exhausted in bed.
The worry I had for himandthe otherswasover. They’d come back, every one of them, and after taking care of few things, it was time to party. There was a lotto celebrate. As we walked through the room, the booze was flowing, musicwas playing, and everyone was having a good time.
Well, the legal age people werehaving a good time.
“Just one freaking drink,” Jas snapped at Cajun, who laughed and grabbed the bottle of beer from his daughter. It was good to see her adjusted to being back home.
