He looked up at me, his eyes intense, and in that gaze, I saw his own fears, his determination, and his love mirroring mine. "I love you too, Cora," he said, his voice muffled against my skin. "We'll get through this. Together."

His assurance was a balm to my anxious heart. With him, I felt like we could weather any storm, survive any battle. His presence was my fortress, his love my shield.

And that was all we needed.

Chapter fourteen

Weston

Ileanedover, kissingher deeply, tasting the lingering sweetness of our intimacy on her lips.

"Weston," she whispered, her voice a soft melody in the dimly lit room. Her hands reached for me, pulling me closer, her touch igniting a flame that had never quite extinguished.

I positioned myself above her, propped on my elbows, looking down into her eyes. "You okay?" I asked, even though her expression already told me everything I needed to know.

She nodded, her hands running down my back, urging me on. "I need you," she said, her voice barely more than a breath.

My heart skipped a beat at her words. The connection between us, always so powerful, seemed to deepen in moments like these. I positioned myself at her entrance, the warmth of her body inviting me in.

"God, Cora," I murmured as I entered her slowly, feeling her body yield to mine. The sensation was overwhelming, a perfect blend of heat and pressure that enveloped me completely.

Cora let out a soft moan, her legs wrapping around my waist, drawing me deeper. I started to move, setting a rhythm that was as old as time yet felt new and exhilarating every time we came together like this.

The room was filled with the sounds of our union, the soft rustling of sheets, and our synchronized breaths. Every thrust brought a wave of emotion that seemed to transcend physical pleasure. It was about connection, about being so in tune with another person that the rest of the world just faded away.

Cora's nails dug gently into my back, a silent plea for more. I obliged, picking up the pace, each movement more urgent than the last. Her body met mine with equal fervor, a dance as intimate as any words of love.

The tension built within me, a mounting pressure that threatened to consume me. I looked down at Cora, her face a picture of bliss, her eyes locked on mine. In that moment, I was reminded of everything she meant to me, of the promises we'd made and the future we were fighting for.

"I love you, Cora," I breathed, the words spilling out amidst labored breaths.

"I love you, too," she replied, her voice strained with the effort of holding back her climax.

The world narrowed down to the space between us, to the shared heat and the relentless rhythm of our bodies. I felt her clench around me, a signal that she was close, and it was all the encouragement I needed.

With a few more thrusts, I pushed us both over the edge. Cora cried out, her body shuddering beneath me as waves of pleasure crashed over her. Her release triggered my own, a powerful surge that left me breathless and spent.

I collapsed beside her, our bodies slick with the effort of our love-making. We lay there in silence, catching our breath, the bond between us a tangible thing in the quiet of the room.

Eventually, I turned to face her, pulling her into my arms. We didn't need to speak; everything that needed to be said had been communicated in the most primal language there was.

Lying beside Cora, I watched her drift into sleep, her breathing steady and calm. The sight of her, so peaceful, contrasted sharply with the turmoil churning inside me. I couldn't just lie here, doing nothing. We were running out of time, and every moment we stayed put our pack, our family, at greater risk.

Carefully, I slid out of bed, ensuring not to disturb Cora. I grabbed my phone from the nightstand, scrolling through my contacts. There were a few pack members I trusted implicitly, ones who had stood by us through thick and thin. I shot off a couple of quick texts, asking if they could meet to discuss logistics. We needed to act fast if we were going to get everyone to safety.

Within minutes, two replies pinged back. They were in. I headed downstairs to my office, a small space crammed with maps and various documents. The clock on the wall showed it was well past midnight, but this couldn't wait.

A knock on the door announced their arrival. "Thanks for coming so late," I said as I opened the door. Rick and Tara stepped inside, both looking as grave as I felt.

"We're all worried, Weston," Rick said, rubbing the back of his neck. "What's the plan?"

I motioned for them to sit. "We need to leave, and soon. But first, we've got to figure out where we can go. Somewhere with enough land for all of us."

Tara leaned forward, her brows furrowed. "What about out west? There's a lot of open space there. Could be what we need."

Rick nodded in agreement. "Yeah, but it's not just about space. We need somewhere secluded, away from too many prying eyes. And we need it fast."

I pulled out a map, spreading it across the desk. "We need somewhere remote, but accessible enough that we can get there without drawing too much attention."
