I finally move away, sliding my finger out and bringing it to my lips, tasting her. Honestly, it can’t get better than this.

“That was embarrassing,” she says into my neck, trying to suppress a laugh. “I’ll put it down to it being a while since I got myself off.”

“Oh really. When was it?”

She slaps my arm playfully.

“Come on, I want to know. I jerked off to you earlier,” I say, right into her ear.

“Oh my God. You did not!”

“I did. All I needed was my memory of you in that green dress.”

She hides her face as I prompt her again.

“Okay, fine. On the weekend, but I’m usually a once-a-day girl.”

I groan, picturing Kelly on her bed, legs spread while she works herself to climax. “God, you’re killing me.”

She shifts and turns to face me, reaching for the covers as she does, and I lean down to kiss her. Completely melted into the moment.

“Thanks, Johnny. I mean, for the flowers, for apologising, for... that.”

But now I’m fucking terrified of what comes next. And I don’t mean with us. I mean, with me.

“Are you okay,Johnny?”I ask, painfully aware I’m completely naked and he’s laying here, fully dressed.

“Yeah, I am now,” he says, adjusting himself so he can look at me.

“Can I do anything for you?”

My voice doesn’t come out as confident as I intended it to, and since the whole subject is a bit awkward, I don’t know if it was the right thing to say.

“Honestly, just accepting my apology was enough. I can’t say sorry enough—”

“Stop. It’s done now. Let’s just look ahead.”

Johnny nods. “Do you think we should tell Bettsy?”

The elephant in the room neither of us wants to discuss. But I guess there’s no time like the present.

“Yes. But also, no.”

“Maybe I can tell him I met someone at speed dating,” Johnny says. “But that probably wouldn’t work since he knows who I met at speed dating.”

“You met someone at speed dating?”

“Well, yes, and no. My sister was there with a girl from work, Kirsty. You can thank Kirsty for helping me out with the flowers.”

I chuckle. “I will. If I ever meet her. Though Mike mentioned Sarah has been messaging you. Is everything okay on that front?”

Johnny fills me in on the fact that he blocked her, but she’s been texting him from random numbers.

“Sounds like she belongs in the same place as Darren,” I say.

“How are things going with him?”

“As good as they can be, I suppose.” I hesitate for a moment before telling Johnny about the casting directors.
