No, that’s not what he was doing. And I was handling it, wasn’t I?

I told you to run, all you did was cling on to the fence.

So your answer was to make me pass out cold?

It worked, didn’t it? We’re here in a comfy bed with our mate. Naked! What could be better?

You have no shame.

“Ziggy. Ziggy, sweetheart? Hey, can you answer me?”

Ziggy blinked Silas’s worried face into focus, blushing as he realized Silas had been talking to him.

“Sorry. I didn’t mean for this to happen.” Ziggy looked at the other guy and his tongue came out. He picked up the smell of something decidedly medical, like anesthetic, clinging to his dirty clothes. Was he a doctor… a vet? “I’m fine. Just fainted is all.”

“Silas, I think it’s safe to say he’ll be fine.”

There was something about the way the guy said it that suggested Ziggy was missing something, especially combined with the fact Silas actually looked sheepish.

“I appreciate you dropping everything to come check Ziggy out, Saul,” Silas answered, not looking directly at anyone.

“I’ll send you the bill.” Saul gave a cheery wave and disappeared out the door.

Ziggy searched the room for his clothes, his mortification growing now he was alone and might have to answer questions about what happened.

Before he could get up the courage to say anything, he was flat on the bed, his lips caught in a hungry kiss that lefthim breathless and aroused. Silas’s body shuddered against his, relaying his emotions.

“I’m okay,” Ziggy murmured, dragging in a ragged breath when Silas gave him a chance. The desperation of the kiss conveying a sense of fear that was sinking past Ziggy’s embarrassment at the situation. “My snake is scared of horses.”

Silas jerked up to stare down at him. “What?”

“I know, I should have said something, but you love horses, and we wanted to be supportive an all. Then Ethan charged towards the fence and things got a little out of control for my snake and he shut down so fast he took me with him. It doesn’t mean I don’t like the ranch, I do… just not the horses so much.”

Silas bit his lower lip, his eyes gleaming with… was that amusement? “Say something,” Ziggy demanded.

Silas kissed Ziggy softly, grinning foolishly at him. “You were scared, but you still wanted to show your support?”

“Didn’t I just say that?” he huffed, cheeks heating from how Silas was staring at him, all dewy eyed.

“No one has ever done anything so…”

“Stupid?”

“Romantic, I was going to say. There was me orchestrating a trip to the ranch so I could prove that I was interested in a relationship with you away from work. Romance your socks off, so to speak. Except here you are, out romancing me.”

Laughter was Ziggy’s only response, though his snake was going with smug satisfaction, and he was reeling from how Silas wanted to romance him.

“Fainting isn’t romantic. Not really.” Was it?

“It got you in my bed and away from everyone, so I’d say that was pretty ingenious.”

He supposed Silas was right, it was ingenious. Ziggy pulled Silas closer and flipped him over onto his back in a practiced move, tangling them both in the covers.

“Well, I suppose if you put it like that,” he murmured against Silas’s tasty lips. “And as you were kind enough to remove all my clothing, it would seem a shame to not repay the favor, if we’re going with the romancing part of this trip.”

Silas’s pupils dilated as his breath hitched.

Ziggy swooped in and kissed him, rough and wet, a tangle of tongues, before he sucked Silas’s into his mouth, holding his gaze as he slowly released it with a wet pop.
