I nod. “My family has an estate about thirty minutes out of the city.”

“Do you see them often?”

Liam drops into the chair next to her and smiles. “He has tea with his mother weekly when we are there and she holds family dinners for all of us at least once a month.”

“Aww…” Aurora coos.

“Can’t you see we were having a private conversation that doesn’t involve you?” I snap at Liam.

Liam rolls his eyes and looks at Aurora. “Someone’s cranky. You should probably take advantage of the bedroom and do us all a favor and get the man off.”

“That’s not necessary.” I scoff.

Aurora bites her lip as she eyes me. “He does look a little tense, doesn’t he? I have always wanted to join the mile-high club.”

“You two are ridiculous.” I shake my head, making them laugh.

“I’ll let you two have your moment, but I just wanted to tell you that I was going to go lie down,” Liam tells her as he squeezes her thigh.

“Okay.”

He leans forward and kisses her.

“Sleep tight,” she says when he pulls away.

Aurora watches Liam walk toward the back of the plane before turning back to me. “Where were we again?”

I go to respond but stop when my phone rings.

“Excuse me one second,” I say as I pull my phone out of my pocket.

My mother’s name flashes across the screen.

I accept the video call and smile. “Mother, you know I’m on a plane.”

“Yes, but the plane has Wi-Fi. Why not call when I can? Besides, it’s not like you’ve checked in since you’ve been gone, now have you?” she lightly scolds.

Aurora giggles, covering her mouth.

“I apologize.”

“As you should. Now who did I hear giggling in the background?”

I look over my phone and hold out my hand, silently asking her to join me. Aurora shakes her head and mouths no.

“One second,” I say as I unbuckle my seat belt and move to the seat next to Aurora.

I hold the phone up so both Aurora and I are in the frame. “Mother, I’d like to introduce you to Aurora Blake. Miss Blake, meet my mother, Lady Elizabeth Swallow-Morgan.”

My mother smiles kindly. “Aurora, how lovely to meet you, dear. I wish it could be in person instead of over a screen, but beggars can’t be choosers.” She gives me a pointed look before looking back at Aurora. “I’ve heard so much about you.”

“It’s nice to meet you too, Mrs. Morgan.”

“Please, none of that.” My mother waves her hand. “Call me Elizabeth or Mum. I insist.”

“Elizabeth.” Aurora smiles.

“How have you been, Mother?” I ask as I reach down, taking Aurora’s hand in my own. “Anything interesting happen lately?”
