I watch Hailee and Nate dance with the partygoers and can’t help but smile as I shake my head. I feel hands grab me from behind and instantly relax into them.

“How did you know it was me?” Chase asks next to my ear.

I turn in his arms and wrap mine around his neck. “I know what your hands feel like on me by now.” I grin as I press my chest into his.

Chase starts to move us along with the beat. “And how do they feel?”

“Possessive.” I smirk.

“Damn right,” he says as he moves one hand into my hair as the other clutches my waist and kisses me.

We kiss and kiss until someone bumps into us.

“Watch it,” Chase growls.

“Sorry, man, didn’t mean any harm,” the person says as they hurry away.

“Seriously?” I say, raising a brow.

“I can’t help it. Now tell me, what were you staring at?”

“Nate and Hailee.”

“They seem to be doing good.”

“They are,” I say as I look at them again.

“Come on,” Chase says, pulling on my hand. I let him lead me off the dance floor, down the hall to his office.

He pulls a set of keys from his pocket and sticks one into the lock, letting us in. We step inside and I move to the couch as he locks the door. Before I can get comfortable, Chase sits down, pulling me into his lap, straddling him.

“There’s an entire couch I could be sitting on.”

“But why should you when your throne is right here, waiting for you.” He smirks as he raises his hips, grinding into me. I can’t help but hiss. “Why were you looking at the kids?”

“Can’t really call them kids when they are the same age as me,” I point out.

“Nice try, answer the question.”

I look away, trying to pick my words carefully. “This is the first time I’ve ever really had a family.”

“Keep going,” Chase says as he runs his thumb along my thigh, soothing me.

“I guess I’m just afraid it’s all going to end again.” I shrug, staring at the wall.

“What makes you think it will end?”

“It was mayhem that brought us all together. Now that it’s over, all we have is harmony. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad we don’t have to constantly look over our shoulders but…”

“You’re afraid.”

“Yeah,” I say softly.

“You’re right. It was mayhem that brought us together. It put the wheels into motion for all of us. But we’re family now and that won’t change.”

“Hailee turns eighteen soon. That means she will be kicked out soon,” I say, running my hands along his arms.
